SKY customer "non" service Rant

OK, so we want to leave Sky to go to Virgin, and have an install date of 8th September. I rang Sky this morning to give them 30 days notice, and was informed that as we have Sky Talk with them as well as the TV package, if we cancel the TV today, they will disconnect the phone line today.
I explained that we wanted to port our number over to Virgin, and that Virgin would be in touch with Sky to discuss that part of the transfer.
I was then informed again that even if I give them 30 days notice to cancel the TV, the phone line would be disconnected today, leaving me unable to even accept incoming calls or ring 999.
I even quoted their own terms and conditions at them, but was told that they were incorrect :rotfl:.
I then rang Virgin and they had never heard of such a practice. They said that if we were with them and wanted to cancel, all services would be useable until the day of disconnection.
As it stands now, i have to wait until Virgin is installed, then ring Sky and give them 30 days notice to cancel, and end up paying for both Virgin and Sky for 1 month .
Beware, if you want to leave Sky, they will do everything they can to get as much money out of you as they can!

Sorry to say that I think you've been misled.
I've just switched from Sky Talk back to BT and didn't have any of this.
The line was still connected and number working for the notice period and BT communicated with Sky and agreed a date to take over so there was no interruption.
All I had to pay for was the service and calls up until that date. None of this threat to disconnect the line immediately.
If I were you, I'd talk to someone else.0 -
I thought it was illegal to leave someone's phone unable to dial 999?0

I would call back and ask to speak to a manager, then if they still say the same ask them o put it in writing as you are contacting the ombudsman or whatever it is for telephone providers now.0

Hi,
Don't you pay for everything in advance (apart from the call charges?), so if you cancel now, you will have already paid for the following month?

Can you post phone numbers on here? I have a number for their customer relations which apparently the customer service call centre don't have. I ended up using this when I was canceling with Sky after just 2 weeks. If not PM me and I will give you the number, the people there are so nice and very very helpful. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

Took me over 30 phone calls and a LOT of expensive calls to get to speak to a manager, who promises the earth, then you can never get hold of him again and the phone call never existed.
My advice to ANYONE who's considering moving to/back to sky...
Just DONT...
Put your head in a blender first, it'll be much less painful in the long runAlmost..debt free.. :P:money:0 -

Sky are the worst I have had such a bad time with being abused by their call centre managers. The pits!0
