If you read the whocallsme reports the name that keeps cropping up is a company called Leadx
    http://www.leadx.com/

They buy and sell marketing 'leads' of personal information of people who are looking for loans or insurance. They obtain many of them from the major price comparison sites on the net!!

They are also involved with accident claims. I don't know if these messages are connected to them.

Thanks for that - very interesting!
Did you have that number already or where did that come from? I googled the number that called me (07786892320) but it didn't come up with anything.

This is what I believe is happening. Somebody is spamming phone numbers with messages like... "our records show you may be entitled to £5,000 for a recent accident" or "would you like your debt....." or something about a loan.......depending on what kind of marketing list they are trying to create.

If anybody replies to these messages they will take all your personal details and sell them on.

I mentioned Leadx because they buy and sell these lists.

It also appear they are involved in selling lists generated in a similar way that you people are describing.

Re: Debt Management Real Time Calls & Web Generated Leads

Having looked we're cheaper than the posts on here!!!

We must be doing it right!!!

We are generating DM leads via websites and phone calls specifically engineered around debt management.
    Unfiltered DM Calls £8
    Unfiltered DM Web £8
    Filtered DM Web £35
    Filtered IVA Web £55
    Debt Management
Minimum Disposable Income of £180 (IVA £250)
2 or more unsecured creditors (3 for IVA)
Minimum unsecured debt of £6K(IVA £15K)

Refund: Dead No's, Non UK, Fictious Characters (must be received back within 24 hrs)

This website is purely geared around debt management, not debt consolidation declines.

If interested please call me on 0844 8714317 or PM me. Originally Posted by gregmunro75

We do hot key transfers, however, they are unfiltered, we offer them at a quarter of the price of the filtered leads. Usually generated via SMS..

Yes they are DM/Unsecured leads, not applications.

The leads are generated from a site specifically engineered around debt help and Lending, not failed consolidation loan applications (I know the pain felt ring loan apps, I worked in DM for 8 years via GregPenn and Chiltern!), so they are the real deal.

We have a full refund policy so all fictious characters, deadlines, non UK citizens will be refunded (must be received back within 24 hours)

    Hope this clarifies our position.

    Regards y'all!!

    Greg
    Hi, guys.

i'm a colleague of Greg's. The unfiltered DM/IVA leads are voice generated. Basically, customers have responded to either an SMS, e-cast or IVR campaign.

And yes. We are looking for more Data leads.

More info, please give me a call on 0844 8714300.

    Regards

Ah hah - got you now! thanks :j
  • I called Ofcom regarding an identical text message, and was told that it's not currently illegal to send these spam texts.

They have taken the number but they can't do anything unless this is costing me money (for instance, if the texts come from a premium number).

This is the second one of these I have received; I texted STOP to the first one and deleted it when I didn't see anything unusual on my bill.

I also called LeadX, as their name keeps coming up in relation to this, but they said they did not have my number. The guy on the phone claimed that they only pass on numbers received from sources such as insurance comparison sites - I'm willing to believe him, as I haven't really seen what the connection is to LeadX specifically.

There is a massive list of similar numbers here (someone has already been and linked to this site).

(Edited, I can't post links. Site is at:

    the-scream[dot]co[dot]uk/forums/t29313[dot]html )

The number that texted me was 07933560324.

    Hope that helps!
