If it's those pre-recorded messages about "debt" or double glazing? I press 0 or whatever it is they say to press and get an operator then I ask for the company name before I do anything else and THEN I get very abuse with them - pointing out that I have a small infant and my number is flipping ex-directory for a reason! If they ever EVER try to contact me again I will go through the courts for harrasment - so unless they update their systems to ensure it DOESN'T call me again I'll see them in court. Then I hang up :)

So far 7 weeks without any more calls... :D

  • We had this happen a year or so ago, all day and all night and it was just beeping when you picked up the phone.

I rang BT (who were my phone provider at the time) and they put me through to malicious calls dept. They managed to trace the number for me which turned out to be Lloyd's bank in our town centre. BT put a free temporary block on it for us while we sorted it out. :money:

I rang Lloyds and after *much* transferring managed to tell someone who might be able to do something about it. Turns out one of the cash machines was faulty its software dials a number to let a central computer know. Unfortunately it was dialling us instead. We got it sorted though, took about 4 days and we are no longer stalked by a cash machine! :rotfl:

Since then we've registered with the tps and never get cold calls anymore.

If you register with mpsonline it takes about 3 months for you to officially off the phone list, as the phone companys sell the lists every 3 months to anyone prepared to pay

But once you register , any cold calls that you receive, speak to an operator and get the companys name, tell them you are registed with mps and you will be reporting them for using old lists

This seems to work quite well
