Advice for family - cheap o2 payg source?

Right, I've just had a call from my dad on his way into town. He wants to buy a cheap 02 payg to use. He needs bluetooth, but nothing else (camera, mp3 etc not interested at all). He plans to remove the sim in his current 02 payg and put it in the new phone, and gift his current payg to his friends he's shopping with today as they need a glovebox mobile (iykwim).
If he'd told me he was planning this, I could have found something, but on a 90 time frame, I'm stuck.
Any ideas?!

Motorola L6 69.99 O2 Woolworths, Phones4u
Motorola V3 99.99 O2 Phones4u
Youll probally struggle to find something from a decent brand with bluetooth under £70 in highstreet stores0 -
That's what I figured. I told him to go home, not be in such a hurry and get the 02 one from the link. Cheap and cheerful, but should do what he needs.
He was talking about Tesco - bet he doesn't use his clubcard! :rotfl:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -
why not buy a nokia off of ebay. 3330, 3410 or 3510 sell really cheaply and are all very good phones with cheap battery and fascia replacement costs. He could also get an O2 payg sim for about a quid from ebay as well.0

You haven't said WHY he needs bluetooth; the device he needs to connect to may also have a constraint on the choice of model and manufacturer (e.g. you won't get a Motorola phone to talk to a Nokia car kit).0 -
D'oh! Didn't notice that bit about bluetooth.
What about a nokia 6230? They are relatively cheap on ebay and they have bluetooth.0 -
I don't know. Probably to use in the car - but currently he bluetooths his skype calls on the home computer (sister abroad makes calls cheap!). Hadn't considered that bluetooth might be manufacturer specific.
He's not confident that he won't get scammed on Ebay ... I tried that advice but can see his point. Sadly he is so sure he doesn't want to spend more than £50 - apparently the man at the O2 shop told him that was enough.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -
Why is bluetooth a requirement?fairylights wrote:...I don't know. Probably to use in the car......Hadn't considered that bluetooth might be manufacturer specific....
Bluetooth earpieces (as modelled by Nathan Barley ) work fine when you're in the open air. So long as you remember to keep them re-charged.
They don't work in cars.
If you want to talk in the car, you NEED a properly fitted car kit, and a handset that works handsfree. The car kit needs an external aerial. (The metal car body shields your phone from receiving a strong signal.)
If you want to link your handset to one of these kits, then you need to check both manufacturer and model compatabilities.
If the man in the 02 shop can provide all of this for £50, can you get me one too?0
