replacing the bottom element in a built in oven

Is it a difficult job, do I have to get a man in or can a reasonably competent DIYer who can wire a plug do it? I can buy the correct element online for £25.

Yes you can do it.
Here is a video on how to do something similar.
You mentioned 'the bottom element'.
I guess you mean the element in the lower oven?
These are often a grill type element in the roof of the oven, but the replacement process is very similar.
Here is a video on replacing a grill element. Note that he says take the appliance out of its housing. I would imagine in most cases this element can be replaced in a similar way as in the first video.0 -

It will take you 5 minutes. Remember to turn the power off to the oven first.0 -
It's the lower element in a single oven, I looked at the video but my element is not visible so that makes me think I have to take the oven out of its housing to get at it from the back.0

Oh yes, pull the oven out and go in via the rear, thats how the factory put in it in!0
