replacing the bottom element in a built in oven

Is it a difficult job, do I have to get a man in or can a reasonably competent DIYer who can wire a plug do it? I can buy the correct element online for £25.

    Yes you can do it.
Here is a video on how to do something similar.

    You mentioned 'the bottom element'.
I guess you mean the element in the lower oven?
These are often a grill type element in the roof of the oven, but the replacement process is very similar.
Here is a video on replacing a grill element. Note that he says take the appliance out of its housing. I would imagine in most cases this element can be replaced in a similar way as in the first video.

It will take you 5 minutes. Remember to turn the power off to the oven first.

It's the lower element in a single oven, I looked at the video but my element is not visible so that makes me think I have to take the oven out of its housing to get at it from the back.
  • Oh yes, pull the oven out and go in via the rear, thats how the factory put in it in!
