Natwest Step Account

Options
I am about to set up a step account with Natwast. I filled in the online application and my form to sign arrived yesterday. All the letter asks me is to sign the application form, read the terms and cons and return to Natwest. This seems a little easy i was expecting to send off i.d and proof of address, i have read through in detail and this is never asked (or its well hidden) . Is it really this straight forward if i have to prove who i am and send more documents at a later date this will only take longer to set up the account and i may as well find time to go to a local branch.

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks

    Hi Simon78,

Maybe they've been able to verify your identity electronically? I recently applied for a co-op current acct and after I was credit checked I was sent a welcome pack, few days later came debit card etc.

They didn't ask for any extra ID, so I'm assuming they ID'd me electronically too.

NatWest were able to verify my identity electronically as well, this was last year, no ID was asked for.

I applied for a current plus account. Got forms through a few days ago asking for proof of income. Didn't ask for proof of ID. I'll send them off tomorrow.

  • Thanks for the advice everybody. I will send forms of today. My only concern is that i live with my partner and have not lived there very long, the only thing i have to connect to address is my current account with Barclays has been changed to this address. I guess i will just have to see what happens i guess Natwest will contact me is more proof is needed.

When I applied with Natwest, I was told that I didn't need to provide ID because I already hold an account with them and they saw proof of ID to open the original account. When I applied for a joint account with my partner, they requested his ID and not mine for the same reason.
