This is a bit of a rant however some history!

Moved into my flat in 2007 and my neighbour was OK at first, just a few minor annoyances, then the new misses moved in and it's been hell over the last six months, we've taken it as far as getting him served with a notice with intent to evict by the local housing association.

Meantime, we've considered selling up and moving, it's a shame but without sleep our lives are awful. I run scouts, goto st john ambulance, have an allotment and a full time job to boot - no sleep makes me crazy :(

Anyway, so we decided to pack up the non-essentials into plastic boxes and store in my parents mice infested garage (the plastic boxes are a must to stop the mice getting in). So far, I've moved around 14 plastic boxes packed full. The house is appreciatively emptier looking a lot more minimalist. The result is that for the first time it's a bit clearer and cleaner and I'm already wondering what was so great about what is in those 14 boxes that I need to keep (bar a few sentimental things)

    Crazy.

So yet again, I'm back to thinking about running with the flylady thread again and trying to keep the place clean and tidy.

Hey Tim, welcome to the thread.....again!

Sorry to hear you're having such hassle with your neighbours. If you are your partner like it there, dont give up - if they are on the verge of being evicted, is it worth hanging in a bit longer until they are gone? Or are you happy to move anyway?

Decluttering is a big thing for most of us on this thread....well done you on filling 14 boxes!!

I have been ironing for FOREVER - well ok, not really, but it feels like it....

ironing pile is slightly smaller, but am off again to do some more while im on a roll! My nice nieghbour is off on holiday today and bringing me over food that shes not taking with her and will be off by the time she gets back...which includes some bananas which will be incorporated into my baking later.....any suggestions??

  • Is it just me???

If you were a roofer coming to do a repair on a semi would it not be courtesy to knock on the next door and tell them you were going to be working (and might have to come on to their side)
Got a real fright at the noises coming from above until I went out to find out what was going on.

Not helped by the fact that next door has been empty for a while - although checked regularly and is in the process of changing hands.

Sorry to hear about the neighbours Tim, I have had a bad experience when I lived in Glasgow....bouncing drum n bass/techno from about 2am until 6 or 7am directly above my head :mad::mad:. Lack of sleep=grumpy OrkneyStar!

Tim_n - Sorry to hear about problems with your neighbours. We moved from a place I loved (bought it from grandparents so grew up visiting there) as we had such noisy neighbours move in. I was heavily pregnant and taking exams at the time - just couldn't deal with the stress. If you can hack though, I would say try and see it through if you love the place.

As for the Cheddar and Pesto muffin recipe... I think I should wait until I have sampled them at lunchtime before I share the recipe. I wouldn't want to land you all with icky offerings! :D They smell nice and look a bit drier, perhaps more scone/bread-like than the usual sweet cakes, but will have to wait and see. I can safely give you the baby spinach pesto recipe though as we had that with spaghetti for dinner yesterday (with add chopped sun-dried tomatoes and garlic-stuffed olives - yum!) Baby Spinach Pesto - Toast about 2 heaped tbsp chopped mixed nuts. Whiz with about 4 big handfuls of baby spinach, a grating (about 2 tbsp)of mature Cheddar, a splash of lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil to taste and to give the right consistency.

I've just finished doing some ironing - still got more to do but I've made a start. The kids are on the fields behind the house with the playworkers at the moment so they'll be back shortly then I need to go to Mr Ts and the library.

I might just do a few more jobs first.
