Hillarys Venetian Blinds on Bay window?

Just wondering if anyone has had these fitted and if they were finished off as badly as this?

We've paid a 50% deposit and are withholding payment of the balance until they sort it out. They are ignoring our letters and calls of complaint and have now sent a letter threatening court action.
Their customer service is atrocious.
Thanks in advance.

  • Well you photos are close up's what do they look like when at a normal distance from the blinds?

You are always going to have a joint on any bay, how were you told this would be?

To be honest that may be the best you'll get. Their fitters/salesman are self employed and the job will only be as good as the individual fitter.

Ive been in the blinds industry for 10 years and Id say the fitter has cut the pelmet with a hack saw, that why it so bad. You can make this a better edge by sellotaping the cut line and sawing front to back making sure the first few cuts are done smoothly and all should be fine. It also looks like your slats touch, you can make the blind smaller by cutting each few slats sellotaping them together. Use some tipex to cover chip marks, that helps and makes things better. You get what you pay for there. Write them a letter to there head office, if you not fine with sorting this yourself.
    Kind Regards

    Thanks for your replies.
The cost of blinds for 2 x bay windows is £950 so I expected a professional finish. Skirting boards wouldn't be cut like this so I don't see why we should put up with it.
I have already written to head office and haven't had a reply. I'll be contacting Trading Standards as we paid a high price for a poor job.
Just wish I hadn't used Hillarys Blinds!

Was going to use Hillarys years ago but even then they seemed expensive.

That's a hell of a price you have paid for a very poor job.

I would write to there head office and take them to court. You have photographic evidence to back you up.And i think you have every right to withhold your payment.

    Good luck

£950!!! £950!! You could have bought some venetians from Ikea that are just as good at a fraction of the cost!! You were robbed!!

Though to be fair i couldn't see the problem from the pictures until it was pointed out. I'd get some white sealant and just run a bead of it over the joins if it bothers you.

I dont think ikea blinds are the same, ive seen them and they cut corners, they have to because of the price. One thing you dont get, you dont get them made to measure, you dont get a huge range of colours, you dont get the quality of made to measure blinds. You get what you pay for. I dont agree with the thread starter, these should have been cut right or at least made looked better or even offered a discount for the trouble.
    Kind Regards

I dont think you can really take them to court when you have not paid the full price of the invoice. Only if they demand the full amount can you take this to court.

we've had similar problems with their sister company web blinds, very poor customer service. They only have two members of staff dealing with complaints who practically shouted at us and wouldn't let us get a word in edge ways . I will never go with them again.
