He has a Lloyds card 11.5k and Tesco 4k. He doesn't use them really, we have just bought a suite on one and have the savings to pay off in full 1500, just thought we would do it on an interest free card. Tesco card is about to run out and we will be paying interest, so thought we should change it to an interest free card again
13 months at 0% is currently available to new customers from Halifax on balance transfers made in the first 90 days. There's a 3% BT fee.
IME, and from feedback here, credit limits are generous and the minimum monthly payment is just 1% of the balance shifted ;)

Have you looked at your credit reports to see what's actually on there? For help, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky ;)

Oh dear, checked my credit info on here and apparently is weak :(
I then tried applying for Barclays long term balance transfer rate of 6.3% but was refused for this too. So thats two that have refused me now, oh dear. Looks like I'm going to have to pay virgin the 16% interest for the next two years until I can afford to pay off the 1,000.....so much for this card tart malarky.

You won't necessarily be stuck with it for 2 years. There are steps you can take to improve your credit rating (see the other posts discussing this). Then in 6 months time you can try again.

MBNA are known to increase interest rates so there's no guarantee that it'll stay at 16% (although if they do say they're increasing it, you can ask them to suspend your account and freeze the interest rate).

Sorry - forgot to check back on my post to see if I got any replies - havent quite figured out to subscribe to them yet!

Thanks so much for your help. I actually remembered I can apply for a student account, as I'm a full time student! So thats really helped and I've managed to pay the majority off my virgin card with the overdraft from my new student account.

    Thanks again x
