Faulty Plasma TV - advice please??!!!

send a letter to comet and Lg stating that you require repairing of the said Tv as it should have lasted for more than 3 years - quote the soga
Inform them if they dont respond then you will issue small claims proceedings against both companies
Thats really bad advice and wont help one iota.
It is up to the OP to now prove this fault was INHERENT, (which it obviously wasn't seeing as how the TV last 3+ years).
The only time SOGA will come into force after this long is if said inherent fault can be proved.
Regarding a reasonable amount of time. How do you think small claims will help? It won't!
Reasonable amount of time is a very grey area and all your advice will do is cost the OP more money with no regain.Hi
Do you reckon my tv should be repaired by Comet free of charge?
I can understand the frustration but the line has to be drawn somewhere.moonrakerz wrote: »I do wish people would stop posting this grossly misleading tripe !
There is NO law stating that anything should last any period of time.
Please read and understand this:-

It DOES NOT mean that there is a 6 year warranty - it means that up to 6 years after purchase damages can be claimed from the supplier (not the manufacturer) - BUT the onus is on the purchaser to prove an inherent defect in the goods was present at the time of purchase.
As the TV has worked for 3 years I would say your chances of winning a Court case are somewhat less that zero.
Thank god....another voice of reason.
Too many people are quoting SOGA and the EU Directive without having the faintest idea what they are on about0 -
I will not waste any more of my time on this subject which has been done to death already, other than to say if you think you will win your case in Court - go ahead !
Let us know the outcome - please !
PS: I note the story in the Daily Wail talks about an "EU Law" but doesn't actually refer to anything - sheer claptrap !0
