Whiteboard
dry board marker
Make them a list - give them a time scale by when it has to be done and let them get on with it.
MrK will do it that way, if I ask him to do something, he breathes and its gone, so I write it down for him and let him get on with it. If I interfere it will only make things worse so I have learnt to sit back and let him do it his way.
I dont ecpect him to dust (whats dust then he will say?) but he will hoover, empty the dishwasher etc and if its on the list do the windows.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Maybe Mr LW is unusual, but there's no household job he refuses to do. He might need prompting, but he never complains or refuses.:A
I'm at home all the time (chronic illness, too disabled to work) so I do what I can manage by myself while he's at work, and the rest we do together, and incidentally have a good laugh in the process - even dusting. Jobs that are now beyond me because of my health, he does, with a smile. Hoovering and ironing come in this last category - I can iron, but need the board set up for me, so he just gets on and does it all.:o
We cook together a lot; he does anything requiring sharp knives, and he also clears washing up while I create more of it!:D He will, whenever asked, prep veggies and leave them in a bowl of salt water ready for me to make a meal the next day.
Reading this thread, I realise how extremely lucky I am.:)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
nonoz and looblo, Get yourselves a big white poster on a stick saying "Housewife's Strike" and on Friday night before you go to bed, stick it up in your kitchen. Stay in bed all week-end and don't do a thing. By Monday morning you may find your partners ready to adopt a negotiating position.
I can't complaint about my OH. He does most of the cooking & shopping, as well as cleaning baths & loos, and the monthly dishwasher & hob extractor clean. He also cleans the oven, I job I hate doing. He doesn't see dust though, and HATES gardening, so that is virtually 100% my province. He is also one of the untidiest men I have ever come across which does drive me to distraction at times as it's so much easier to clean and dust when all surfaces are clear of clutter.0 -
Think I must have married Mr LW's brother.
I'm very restricted with what I can do due to disability, and hubby will do anything I ask him to. He dos not see dirt dust etc but will do more than his share even the Ironing when I'm feeling particularly rotten. We do a lot of things togeather as I run out of puff very easily, and always have a good laugh especialy when batch cooking. It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

Mr SD will empty the dishwasher in the morning (he won`t fill it though)
He is another one that will hang up washing in a lump, either that or he pegs it out without thinking so that there are peg marks in places where they are difficult to iron out. He`s seen me peg it out for over 21 years so he must have missed something there.
He will hoover at a nag or three and will wipe the kitchen sides down using half a bottle of washing up liquid leaving suds everywhere.
He can`t cook to save his life and wrecks the kitchen making beans on toast, burnt toast a shrieking smoke alarm and beans either welded to the bottom of the pan or stuck to the roof of the microwave are the norm.
He can`t iron and can`t do any of the diy things that fellas seem to do either so i`m stuffed
He will very occasionally mow the lawn and cut the hedge but as thats only about twice a year it doesn`t really count as i usually do it.
Sometimes i could happily strangle him as i`ve tried almost everything and nothing seems to work long term.
When i`ve had enough of his untidiness i`ve put things lying around in his car as thats the only way i can get him to take notice
Other things i`ve just hidden and if they`ve not been missed for a few months they`ve gone in the bin.
I`m sorry that i can`t offer any help, i read the thread hoping that i would find a miracle cure
Although he can send me to the very brink of insanity sometimes we must be doing ok as we`re both still under the same roof.:D at the moment:rotfl:
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

how do you make him keep it clean?
Tell him just how h*rny it sounds to you to do 'stuff' on sparkling kitchen counters/washing machines, hallway floors, and that you can't wait to have a lovely clean, shiny house with sooooo many new places........I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll
