Experian

indeed, that could be what is wrong with the OP's file in which case they will need to call Experian on Monday and ask for all of the variations of their current address to be added.
dont you mean amended mate? They will amend them all to show the same address if it is just formatting problems, remember Experian use PAF system for the address which isn't always the same as you'd describe it so always best to check PAF for free before you apply for credit when you first move homes to get the exact way your address should read.

Does it actually affect your report? I was just going to leave it, if it was harmless. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've got 187 'Linked Addresses' on my Experian report, and according to Experian it's perfectly normal (?).

It is just 5 addresses repeated over and over again, some identical, some with minor format differences. Some are from companies I've used for years and some are from companies I've never used but have applied to in the past.
It doesn't stop me from getting credit so I wouldn't assume that this is the reason for your Tesco decline.

yes it can do if people search it, but to be fair if its close enough then shouldn't be a problem...... BUT i'd always say get it right cos leaving it now could leave you liable to problems like stephane is having now! Its best to send an email and get it sorted - its a 2 minute job mate

No, they actually add all of the variants including post code variants.
So it could read
Current address:
Flat 1/2, 15 anystreet, anytown, PA1 2AA
Previous addresses:
Flat 12, 15 anystreet, anytown, PA1 2AA
Flat 12 15, anystreet, anytown, PA1 2AA
House 12, 15 anystreet, anytown PA1 2AB (not the different post code)
and so on..
But as the lender is supposed to get all of the data no matter which address they search which I think is why they create the links.
Edit: Callcredit can amend the address but Equifax cant. What Equifax will show in this case is
1-2 15, anystreet, anytown, PA1 2AA
It can be a nightmare living in flats.0 -

My point is - this is wrong! They should be removing them and leaving one version there - the correct version! didn't you know this? It is the responsibility of the CRA to ensure this section is correct because some lenders ask for different data meaning there will be soooo many variations that the CRA's streamline them into the actual correct address.
Trust me mate, had it done myself. Just email experian and request all links are streamlined to show the correct version of the address. Point out the incorrect entries (i.e. L1 is correct address, L2 - L25 should read the same as L1 but they have incorrectly split my number from being 12 to 1/2). See my point mate?

Can you confirm, on your credit report (Experian) under addresses, you have your current address, then your previous address right? So, how many addresses show under previous addresses (this will cover the last 6yrs).....
Then,
Further down the report you see linked addresses, of these, the only ones that should show is your previous addresses and nothing else. So, you have lived at 5 houses in the last 5 years = 5 linked addresses. The cannot be anything like 141 so please elaborate.
Its hard to answer the tesco question cos we dont know if it is a previous address, a linked previous address, a linked address, an incorrect linked address, how long you lived there, which linked address it is (i.e. house 2 or 5)
see what I mean - you need to be giving lots more info matey - or even better, email experian and ask them.
You need to get the linked addresses sorted out, they should be listed like the previous address history on page 1 of Experian in the same format as well, 141 would mean each credit provider listing a new link each account - that is incorrect they all link to one address.
follow me?
Yes, my experian shows my current address and previous shows 2 addresses I have lived at for last 5/6 years (3 addresses last 6 years)
When I go down the report it says in section "linked addresses" 141 details. When I look at them, it shows recent credit applications I made linked to addresses I have lived during last 5 years (normal), but is does also show linked addresses where I lived dated back to 2001 for credit application I may have made during that time0 -

They told me the opposite, but as it is not causing any problems at the moment only having pages and pages of links I think I will just leave it. This is because all the links are variations of my address and each and every company and the Council all use different variations which they cannot change.
Thanks for the advice though.0 -

Right, so the links are 141 accounts and or searches - not 141 linked addresses? That explains it
So there are like 5/6 linked addresses but 141 entries in there? If so thats normal they will all drop off when the accounts are closed from the link and the account data is gone so 9yrs in total. The cap1 will drop off after 6yrs of none usage plus 3yrs reporting data so 9yrs. following me still......

Mate I know they tell you the opposite, sorry, I did have Lee Hancock do it for me. Maybe I should express that. Not the normal nuggats that proclaim to be experts in the field (i've forgotten more than half the nuggats at Experian have learned)! :rotfl::rotfl:
