NT Broadband for FREE!!!

I have been with NTL for years. I had cable TV, telephone and broadband. A year ago I negotiated a cheep deal for 2MB broadband on the back of a (failed) change to Netvigator (wireless broadband).
I stopped the cable TV earlier this year after moving to Freeview.
After hearing about TalkTalk's free broadband I checked all the facts (on the TalkTalk web site) and dxecided that I could save quite a lot, even with the £99.99 cost to get a BT line (needed for TalkTalk). So I called NTL and told them I wanted to cancel my broadband and telephone line. They asked me why and I told them that they were too expensive. I was then passed to their "disconnection service" (read Martin's article on negotiating a good deal on mobile phones). They asked what I was going to pay with my new supplier and I told them. They knew straight away that it was TalkTalk, and immediately offered to provide my broadband for free for 6 months - providing the TalkTalk offer is still around, I just have to call them and they will continue the free broadband.
So, I have not only saved £24.99 per month, but I have saved a one off cost of £99.99 for a BT line!
