Changing price plan with Vodafone

I'm about 6 months into an 18month contract with Vodafone - my plan is £40 a month, but the bills have been considerably more with the extra being in texts.

I remembered the sales agent saying that I could go between plans at any time - i've just looked on the website and it has given me a number of options, all the same price as my current plan, with which I could change to. I could go from my current 250 texts to unlimited for the same £40.

My question is, can I change to another plan and still have 12 months left on my contract, or would I start back at 18months again? I've looked on the website, got confused and never found an answer!

Sorry for the long post - thanks in advance.

I think you have to wait atleast 9 full months before you can downgrade. You can downgrade you plan by moving down to a tarriff 5 pound cheaper once per month till you get to the lowest tarriff. Doing this does not start a new contract.

If you can change your plan, I don't think they will let you choose a newer plan of the same cost without extending your contract by 6 months, although you may want to check with customer services. Those plans you were looking at are intended for new customers.

You can up your contract at any time.
You can only go accross to a plan the same price or goto a lower tariff after your 9th month.

It may be worth going to a £45 tariff for the meantime.

    Hi champagne_supernova

    It's a good question.

You can change your plan at any time in your contract without an extension.

You can't lower your plan until you have been with us for 9 months from your contract start date.

Provided you are looking at standard price plans on our website you could change to them without having any additional time on your contract.

If they are promotional plans or for upgrades or new customers then you it may not be possible to change onto them without or a 6 monthextension or until you are due to upgrade.

If you would like to look at different price plan options you can. Get in contact with us via any of the methods on the Contact Us pages of the website. If you would like us to check for you then send us an email from those pages with a link to this thread and WRT135 in the body of the text.

    Have a great weekend!
