Can only suggest you email the charities involved and ask.
I don't think it's the kind of thing any of us could give you a definitive answer on, but it is certainly worth emailing or phoning the charities to approach them with your kind offer.Herman - MP for all!0 -
i always give to oxfam as they don't seem to waste much on overheads and of course i like their fair trade campaign. i got this in an email from them this week:
"Oxfam has been working throughout the Asian region for decades, on long-term development as well as emergency response. Please help us by making a donation today – whatever you can spare – to help people throughout Asia who have nothing left. "
i think they're well placed to know the communities needing help and how best to go about it as they've been working there for a long time.52% tight0 -

Don't forget that if you are a UK tax payer it's better to make a telephone donation via a UK number where possible and give your name.
That way the charities can claim the tax back for your donation - increasing the value of your donation by around 25%.
If you make an anonymous donation they can't claim the tax back.0 -
Just seen Sir Trevor heading up a TV appeal.
As from tomorrow should be able walk into any high street bank or PO and donate over the counter.0 -

I too would like to make sure that the money which I donate is targetted and used as effectively as possible.
Does anyone have any information on which charites are the most efficient?
I had been under the impression for some time that Oxfam are one of the least effective.0 -
Just a thought - one of my daughters has a young family and can't afford to donate as much as her sister so instead she is taking all her childrens' toys etc she had collected for a boot sale to the local Oxfam Shop. I personally, wouldn't feel happy going out on New Years Eve to enjoy myself knowing that people were suffering in this way, so have decided to stay in and donate what would have been spent on a meal etc. I am sure there must be other ways that people can help if they are on a low income. Perhaps others have better suggestions?Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0
