Orange are a bunch of STHIS

Took out a laptop deal back in Oct 08. All was well until the keys started falling off. Called Orange and told to speak with HP. HP told me to speak to Orange, why? I'll tell you why.

When i took out the laptop i got a dongle too and insurance' does the insurance cover the laptop?' i asked 'yeah sure' was the reply. Back in MARCH this started and Orange have ignored my letters, recorded delivery and phone call after phone. I said to the guy at HP that i was advised i have insurance and he said 'Orange are responsible for sorting this out for you as you got it from them and that you have insurance'

They also owed me £36 and i needed a new back cover for my phone and it took 3 months to get that sorted.

Spoke to a manager who promised to get things sorted out. Fair enough i got my cover and money refunded and the promise of a goodwill gesture, wiping the bill and a new laptop. Hear nothing so call back up and am promised a call that day (Monday this week ) but wait for it.........no call. So i call up today and am told that Orange are going to do nothing, no refund, no laptop and no 'We are sorry for this mess' I was also advised that as i have still used the laptop i have given up any right to a new one. If i want it replaced then i should call HP and they will sought it out.

What a bunch of !!!!!

Nothing constructive to add, but I do agree with your view of Orange. A different story everytime you call, and chances of getting anybody to take responsibility for anything is zero.
    Gone ... or have I?

I'm about to start working for them...but I promise I'd be better!

As for the issue, you should have a one year manufacturer warranty on it, so if anything goes wrong (providing it's not physical damage) then HP should replace it. Also (as I've worked for Orange before)...if you can remember the date and time which you called and spoke to a manager who promised you the world, then it should have a footprint of who it was and a direct contact number.
Orange representatives only have the ability to offer £30 goodwill gesture as a maximum per call, and I think supervisors could authorise a higher amount. Orange though, are not computer manufacturers or repair agents so a call to their customer services won't get you anywhere. They are there to deal with Orange phones queries, handset faults and billing mostly. I'd try head office for a better response, or the shop you purchased from.

But the contract was made with Orange, not HP. Here's Orange copping out on their responsibilities. What a suprise.

But other than Orange contacting HP and asking them to repair it (which I'm taking it is what the OP has already done) what more could they do? They can't repair it themselves!

I'm sorry to hear of your problems. I've been having some with them recently too.

On May 5th my phone plan should of been changed, but 5th May came an it hadnt.. same happpened 5th June and 5th July... they finally got it sorted 5th August! :)

In that time i made 4 calls to them, each time being told different things.

One time i was promised 400 extra free minutes a month for 6 months as a goodwill gesture as it was a broken promise from orange and completly their fault.

On ringing the next month, to see why the plan hadnt changed again the lady (very rude may i add) said i was entitled to them an was going t take them off my account.

I rang up on Wednesday about something else, and asked to speak to a line manager.. an luckily all is sorted now and a note has been put on the account for no one to take them off this time!! Lol

    Hope you get yours sorted

(Ps, i wouldnt normally moan at them but i have been with them for over 3 years always pay my bills on time which aint exactly cheap!)

I'll be interested to see what you can do about this.

My partner's had trouble with Orange, too. They asked him if he wanted one of those sim only contract things.... £10pm for 500 txts etc. He made them clarify exactly when they would start charging.

Their reply: "You will not be charged until you start using it."

He agreed to have one sent, just in case he needed one at some point, because his current PAYG deal works out cheaper for now.

The next month, he recieved a bill for £10.

It took him 6 phone calls to get them to cancel the bill.

The very next month, they sent him a bill for the interest on the unpaid account.

Needless to say, he's ignored them.

Disgraceful !!!! I am glad I am not with Orange.
  • In the terms and conditionsd it states that if anything goes wrong i am to call Orange which is what i have done.

I've been on the phone to Trading Standards and theym have said that Orange are in breach of contract.

When i put this to Orange they said 'You do what you have to do' and those words of wisdoms came from a manager.

Yep ignorings always the best option. Have fun with the Collections Agents calling you day and night for the money, Not to mention the default they'll smack onto the credit file. Oh happy days. Haha.

Well he's not going to pay for something he shouldn't be charged for.
