On 16 May 09, I dialled a premium rated number to buy £1.50p credit with TopUpNow.

But by mistake, last digit was mis-dialled. 3 instead of 5
16/05/2009 16:02:11 1.3191 00:00:07 09110335533 09 traffic (BT charge band ff21)

Tiscali Customer Support refused a refund and asked me to contact phonepayplus.org.uk
They told me that 09110335533 belongs to Connect Telecom, a Network Operator, and gave me an email addie to contact:
info@connecttelecom.uk.com
I sent two emails so far with full details. But no even a reply.

URL connecttelecom.uk.com does'nt have any info on Connect Telecom

Can any one know anything about Connect Telecom and the premium rated number 09110335533?

Thanx

Why should they refund you because you dialled their number in error ?

It may not agree with your attitudes but with many reputable companies, it is an ethical business practice to return monies paid in error.
Many companies that I know including the ones I have worked with do this.

Does anyone have useful and helpful comments to make?
;)

Thanx
• IMHO. Hardly worth the effort for £1.50 when it was your mistake.
• Perhaps the URL and/or e-mail address was incorrect? I've never seen a URL ending with uk.com!

As it is such a small amount perhaps it should be put down to experience. If not, then try have a look at the webpage that has the same domain but ends with .co.uk/ or phone them on the appropriate number listed on that webpage. (For security reasons this Forum won't allow me to post the actual URL )

Connect Telecom is the company which makes DD calls for my 18185 invoices. If so, it's part of the Finarea group and is based in Switzerland.
The email ID that PhonepayPlus, the watchdog, gave for the network operator that owns 09110335533 is
info@connecttelecom.uk.com
Also, googling suggest that there indeed is a company known as Connect Telecom UK, operating from London with a PO Box number.

But, at the risk of increasing your obvious annoyance it his response, I have to agree with OldGreyFox.
I am fully aware that attitudes vary and that ethical practices are not condoned by some.
As such I am not at all annoyed with 'OldGreyFox' or anyone else with same or similar mind set :D

Having said that useful comments and suggestions from like minded posters will serve the purpose of this thread! ;)

Thanks VB for your reply. :)
Me too! I've never seen a URL ending with uk.com
So when I talked to PhonepayPlus I asked if it is .co.uk. But the lady insisted that it is info@connecttelecom.uk.com
But I tried connecttelecom.uk.com
It is a .com company with services for companies. Their website do not claim to have anything on providing retailing telecom servcies.
I also tried connecttelecom.uk.com/
It has links to many other companies and nothing more.

Did not mean to break any rules but URL not allowed in this forum?!

Whats ethics got to do with it ?

You dial a premium phone number in error and incur a charge of £1.50, and expect to be refunded for your fat thumb dialling.:D

Connect Telecom in Geneva Switzerland are one and the same people as those operating in London with the Post Office Box Number. They are part of the Finarea Group,as is TopUpNow, 18185, 1899, etc, etc, etc

At your grand old age, if you don't know what ethics are, as practiced by reputable companies and individuals, I am not going to waste my time educating you. :rotfl:

Personally, I have been more than happy to give back payments made to me in error, rather than greedily keep the money that does not belong to me and attack the person who made an error with comments like "fat thumb dialling"
