Spending my whole life mending punctures...

I first thought slime!! but im not sure if they still do it.
I used this stuff when i raced downhill an it was excellent, it was as the name suggests a green slimey goo which you put in the tyre an when you got a puncture it sealed itself, surly there must still be a similar product on the market.
Hi yes the one i had seen is called Slime, they sell in Halfords for £8.99 or so. No idea how many tyres this would do though?
Also i can't figure out if it prevents punctures, or just heals existing punctures.wouldn't have thought 16 quid would have bought may tubes & repair kits and that's before you factor in time, hassle and bruised fingers
Sounds like a bargain to me
Well, if the P&P is a few quid that's over £35 for both, and i was looking for something a little more MSE :O, although i agree if it was an expensive bike that was to last i would definitely invest in those.0 -

That sounds like my sort of bike riding
Having said that I know a gang in south Wales who go mountain biking by putting all the bikes in the back of a van, driving to the top of the mountain, riding down then fetching the van and repeat until the pubs open

Hia,
We used slime on ours and to be honest is pretty good , especially with the smaller punctures.
We also used in our kids off road buggy after getting 3 punctures in the space of two weeks and have not had any since then (9 months).
Halfords sell it (green slime) but you can find it cheaper using the ebay sellers.
Hi just noticed this post we must have cross posted - - glad to know you've used this successfully. I will check out eBay - how many tyres does it do?0 -
halfords do inner tubes filled with green stuff think i paid about £12 for 20

Hopefully a simple question - you do make sure you get any thorns out of the tyre after repairing the inner tube? They can sometimes be hard to find and if left in will puncture the tube again and again!

Hi, thanks - and yes!! I was mending a puncture the other day and my ex phoned, i told him what i was doing and he said - make sure you check the tyre for the thorns.
I found it - i'd not even thought of checking though
One of the youths mended his latest puncture  yesterday, and so far so good, i give it til tomorrow though :rotfl: Gonna look at the Slime stuff in Halfords too.0 -

With smaller tyres id say it should be ample for two.
Its primary use is preventing punctures but i guess if the tyre is already punctured it should fix it aswell.0 -
Also ensure that the tyres are not too worn and are properly inflated - either too high or too low can cause punctures.0

Hi,
My moneysaving suggestion, which I got from the real moneysaving experts, in a backstreet bike repair place in India...
Take an old inner tube or two, open it out all the way round, remove the valve and lay it flat. Paint one side with cheap, strong glue and stick it around the inside of the tyre. You then have lovely, puncture-proof tyres and recycle the old, punctured tubes.
Also, it could be worth cutting another thin strip of inner tube to go around the inside of the rim to stop the spoke nipples from chafing the inner tube.0
