Ring finger bigger on writing hand?

Hello,

Not really a money saving question, but don't know where to ask...

Do you know if, say you're right handed, the ring finger on your right hand is bigger on your left, vice versa if you're left handed?

I ask because I've had to have my ring resized - went up half a size. My finger was a bit swollen as the ring was previously stuck on it so took a bit of yanking to get it off. Anyway, I've not worn it for 5 days and got it back today. When we were determining what size to go up to, the lady at H Samuel said that as I was right handed, the ring finger equivilent on my left hand would be bigger, so not to get a size that was too big for that.

When I got it back today, it fits fine on my left hand, but it's still a bit tricky getting it off my proper ring finger.

My finger doesn't seem swollen any more, but maybe the heat has affected it. Just thought it odd that it was good for my left hand, but too small for the right, given what the lady had said.

I would have thought if your right handed then that side would be bigger, just with using it more the muscles would be a wee bit bigger, but really I have no idea there may not even be any muscles in your hands???

That's what I thought. But the H Samuel woman said it was the opposite. It doesn't look like my finger is swollen, unless the heat has made them all bigger and I can't tell the difference...

Just don't want to go and get my ring resized again and go without it for another week

Of course you have muscles in your hands, how else would you move your fingers?!

I think the shop lady got it wrong, im sure my writing hand fingers are bigger than my left hand!

Looks like back to the shop I go. I hate feeling 'unengaged'! I'll see how it fits over the weekend. I think I'm desperately looking for reasons to deny that it;s still too small. It's on my finger and comes off with the aid of cold water, but doesn't just slide off.

Mine is bigger. a ring taken from that finger on my left hand won't fit onto my right hand.

I thought that the proper ring finger is on your left hand anyway? Dress rings are usually worn on the 'ring' finger on the right hand. I too am right handed and my finger size is different on that hand compared to the same finger on my left hand. I take a size L on my right and a lot smaller on the left. Fingers also swell when the weather is warm, to get my rings off I wiggle them and they seem to come off ok.

Sorry, that was me getting mixed up. Meant my left appears to be bigger than my right.

Did the assistant in H Samuel measure your finger with a ring sizer? That would give a fair idea of what the size should be. You don't want the ring to be so loose that it falls off but you don't want it to be too tight either.
