stuck in a terrible value contract!?

Would like to hear from anybody who may have been in a similar situation or anybody with any helpful advice really!

August last year orange called me and offered to upgrade me to the then brand new K750i. I was kind of busy at the time at work and agreed to the contract without really thinking it through. The details are i pay £30 a month for 200 minutes, £8 a month for 120 text messages and £5 for orange care. Somehow i managed to get myself roped into an 18 month contract.

The main problem is i use usually around 300-400 minutes a month so my last few bills have come in at between £80-£110 which i simply cannot afford. I realise i can upgrade my minutes for another £15, but i feel loathe to do that when i see all these great deals for new customers on other contracts, and even new orange contracts. Also doing this would put my minimum monthly bill up to around £60 which again i don't really want to be paying when you can get similar deals on other networks for nearer £30.

Not sure if calling them will do any good as i am nowhere near the end of my contract?

Any advice would be much appreciated

thanks

I was in a similar situation to yours, and have dropped my Orange contract to a 'Core Package' (think that's what it's called) which is £19 per month with 50 minutes and 25 texts.
I have got a new contract with O2 which for the same price gives me more minutes and 300 texts (Online 50).

So even though I have 2 contracts, my bills will still be less than one bill with Orange. I just have to keep my eye on my minutes and texts to make sure I don't go over them, but this is quite easy to do online.

I've been with Orange for a few years and recently have found their prices overinflated and their services inadequate.
My housemate feels the same, and she has done the same as me and gone with O2.

you can upgrade the tariff without problems, or you can downgrade after 6 months which is now

Do you need Orange Care and do you use all the texts?

In the past, people have managed to get their Retentions team to match the 3 tariff of £25 for 500 minutes and 100 texts. If this is possible, and it should be at your level of use, then July would be the time to talk about it.

Considering that it might have been possible last year if you'd had more bartering time, so you can hint they didn't sell you the best option for you, and you might have itchy feet as a result, I'd have a chat with them now and see what happens. Drop some hints about Orange Value Promise and the new T-mobile FlexT package that you're interested in. You can't cancel early, but they might wake up a bit.
