I have had over £2,000 worth of bank charges taken by Halifax, which totally crippled me financially, I have now finally had an offer because my circumstances are so dire but it £1,127 when I'm owed another £1,000 - can I negotiate or should I take it and deal with the rest later?
It's great but it doesn't get me out of the !!!! I'm in, I'm in desperate need of anything which makes wana take it but is that sensible? Can I fight for the other grand?

Have they explained the reasoning behind the decision?0 -
Does anyone have any advice?0

I don't unless I know the answers to the questions because there are two things either accept and negotiate or accept and don't negotiate but as I don't know what the answers to the questions are, then those are your options and good luck either way you want to go.Does anyone have any advice?0 -
No they have no reasoning for it just the amount0

And are priority debt arrears higher than the amount they are offering or will repaying that into the account where the charges are coming from leave a shortfall for those priority debt?No they have no reasoning for it just the amount
Did they include any suspension of charges in the offer as well?0 -
If the offer covers your priority debt (ie will stop immediate problems like reposession/bailiffs etc) then you should accept it - it is only an interim payment and will just be subtracted from your total claim after the test case and then you'll get the rest and the interest
(plus if we lose they cant take it back) LegalBeagles0 -
Provided this is not the final offer from Halifax and your case will remain open then take it, especially if you are stuck in a rut at the moment. Just be sure to read all the small print.

In the experience I am having I suggest take it and fight for the remainder later. you will get it. all the best0

Ok so if I accept can I make them put it in my new bank account that isn't with them??0

you can accept this offer and ask them to pay it by cheque made out to you, they do have the right to put it in to the account you are claiming on though.
However, I have always asked for a cheque and this has been done, just be firm with them and make sure you state you will accept as partial settlement and that you will still continue to fight for the restAbbey Claim 1 - WON £2300 Inc Interest :rotfl:
Abbey Claim 2 - Won £990 :rotfl:
Abbey Claim 3- £1157.80 + Interest @0.25 per day (LBA)
