im so very angry at bbc breaakfast this morning .
firstly they have some women making out that people who ring in with swine flu to work are doing so to skyve and that they will all bring the econmy to a standstil
and now they are interviewing michael biggs father of ronnie biggs .. why ???
this guy avoided prison for years and lived it up whilst he could then when he got ill he came back to serve his crime and now because hes dying they let him out and give him more and more publicity- they are making him sound like some kind of hero ..
he should be allowed to die and should do so in peace not with everyone constantly reporting on this guy

And today we have the smug son of Ronnie Biggs! Says his father has apologised for the crime and that he has served enough time for the crime.
So now if a robbing bar steward says sorry he can decide when he has done enough penance. Surely that is so wrong? He was sentenced, escaped and lived in the sun as you say, until he needed the NHS. So he is not going to recover from his pneumonia...tough, prisons have hospital wings(might free up an NHS bed for a really deserving person)0 -
That woman really annoyed me. She seemed to be relying on third-hand evidence that this thing was happening, and even came out with that classic phrase "I read it in the papers". We all know that everything that's printed in the papers is true.
Did I actually hear her say that an acquaintance of hers, who employs 400 people, "normally doesn't provide sick pay"? That really must be a crappy firm to work for. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

well that sounds slightly illegal anyway! lol! who does she employ? people off the streets?0 -
The woman sounded like an old-fashioned Victorian employer. I bet she regrets that it's now illegal to send children down the mines or up chimneys.
She also said that as soon as that friend of hers reluctantly did introduce sick pay then "the next day two people went off sick". So case proved in her mind! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
On the news last night, they had a chap from a 'call centre' type place that takes sick calls for large companies and he was saying that there have been some cases of people calling in sick with swine flu for the third or fourth time! So it is likely that some people are skiving......0

Unfortunatly people will use SF as an excuse to skive off work. I know it's been happening where I work.
As for Ronnie Biggs, IMO, he lived a good life, having escaped our justice. I can't see why he's got an almost celebrity status cos he's ill. He committed a serious crime, the media seem to have forgotten that in a pathetic excuse to have another go at the government.

You could have put good money on the women at my place of work ringing in sick with swine flu.
Sure enough, one after the other they all called in sick. Nobody else has got it, just the shortlist of women who spend more time off sick than in work.
It's a bit like saying people on benefits are cheats, not all of them are, but a lot are.0 -

No it was quite clear from the BBC coverage that he was a criminal, and an unrepentant one. I got no sense that he was a hero.Fact still remains, if he'd been a good boy and played by the rules...he'd have done his time and been out by now (actually a long time ago).
True, but this point has not been unsaid.0 -
I was angry at the lunchtime bbc news yesterday. They were covering Harry Patchs funeral and the reporter was trying to interview someone and was talking over the last post! The person who he was interviewing had to stop him.
I thought It was very disrespectful to a very dignified old soldier.sonnyboy0
