Cancel contract from store. Help!

Hi,
I've been told I can't cancel a phone contract because I brought it in store (carphone warehouse) is this correct? Only got it a few days ago.
Doesn't everything have to have a cooling off period?

It depends on the store policy.
A cooling off period is legally mandated for purchases made online or over the phone (distance selling regulations). However a store can choose whichever policy they like, since you have a chance to try the product out in a store before buying it.
I am for a cooling off period from stores on mobiles, though, because one can never be fully sure of network coverage in the home, even when the networks' own maps say full signal....0 -
There's no statutory right to it, because the distance selling regs do not apply if bought in store. On what grounds do you want to cancel it? You can only ask but doubtful if you'll get anywhere.
Bear in mind that once you switch the phone on they are unable to sell it as new to another customer, it becomes a second hand phone and the value plummets. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Nope strong chance you wont get to cancel, Im against store returns as people need to be carefull when picking a phone and signing a contract.0

CPW dont do a store return unless its on the O2 network. Your only options are they may allow you to change the handset for another or see if you can still take out their insurance. If you can they can add a part to the insurance which allows you to cancel your contract after reaching the halfway point. Eg 9 months out of 18 6 out of 12 and so on. The price depends on what phone you have.
Very few shops now let you return your phone. It might be better to order over the phone then you have the 7 day DSR to protect you.0 -

Surely you should have been the judge of that, provided you were given ample opportunity to assess the phone for your needs.
If you were not (for example because you didn't get a chance to see the phone in working order and cannot see the screen clearly etc), grab the store manager and tell him that you had to take the salesman's word that the phone would be suitable for your needs, and have since discovered that you were indeed mis sold the phone!Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
