 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

I know its an obvious fact, but there has got to be more to life!! :0( xx

haha it's a luxury - in NZ and Australia you'll get 3 weeks, 4 if you're very, very lucky! So get used to it :)

I travel abroad a lot, but it's always saved for in advance and never put on the card. Travel is my priority while I'm living in the UK because I know I might not have such easy access to Europe and cheap flights forever, so I want to make hte most of it while I'm here.

In terms of travelling on your own, I love it! The first time was scary, more in terms of how I was going to occupy myself for a week rather than fear of the destination. But you'll find that people are much more likely to talk to you when you're on your own, you meet some great people, and have some experiences you just wouldn't get with other people. And you can do what you like, when you like! It's not for everyone but I really enjoy it.

We seem to live in an age of £1 flights, so going on short breaks in Europe is extremely affordable. Plus the internet makes it so much easier (and cheaper) to shop around for your own accomodation, book it directly yourself via email, and plan any other trips and activities that you want to do.

Some people talk about going on expensive all-inclusive package holidays but I genuinely think that the self-booked holiday is better all round.

On that subject a few people who I know, who are also going travelling are booking a package with the work travel company - most of the things you are paying for with them you can do yourself for free. And at £750 (ish) for the package they are chosing could go a long way in Oz!! x

"exotic" holidays (pronounced in Jade Goody accent "egggsss otic") are just another brand of have-it-all thinking. Some people are obsessed with their holidays, but has it really made them any more interesting? Don't feel the pressure, it's just keeping up with the Jones and all that.

Yeah definitely, I always book my trips myself, accomodation the works. I've always managed to do it cheaper than a package deal, and you can find some amazing places to stay too. I've just come back from a week in Morocco, we stayed in a place in Fes that was an old royal apartment, restored by a woman who lived in Fes for a while teaching english (now lives in the States). Our 600 year old apartment was much nicer than the local Ibis hotel :)

I know what you mean mate... but then again... if we didn't have work we'd all be BORED SHTLESS as no one would produce anything for us to entertain ourselves with or build things for us to go and look at.

if ever i find myself feeling dissatisifed with the daily grind i look at old b/w photos of times before washing machines, tumble dryers, cars, televisions, computers, paid annual/sick leave and think... "y'know, it could be - and has been - a lot worse". We really should be grateful for those piddly 4/5 weeks y'know :)
