Lloyds bank won't close my business account!

Hello,
Around 7/8 weeks ago I called into one of Lloyds branches explaining that I wanted to close my account. Customer services went off to get a form & took my ATM card telling me that they'd destroy it. A few weeks later I called them as I hadn't heard anything apart from receiving bank statements & a new ATM card! The person on the phone told me that there was a delay in closing accounts. A couple of weeks later I called into the branch again & they apologised saying that it was all handled at their remote business centre. I again signed a form to close the account. I have received another bank statement today, they have not refunded the monthly account service charges and there is no sign of this account getting closed. I'm working nights this week & will be overseas next week so can't sort it out. This is really frustrating. The reason for closing the account was the service charges & poor customer services! Any tips? Thanks.

The only way you can make banks and financial institutions make notice when they make mistakes like this is to write a letter with the title "Formal Complaint", state very briefly what you want, threaten them with legal action if they don't carry out what you ask within 28 days, and send the letter to their complaints department by recorded delivery.
If you don't live on your own write the letter tonight and get someone else to post it for you. Tell the person who posted the letter where they should leave the recorded delivery receipt so you can get it.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Lloyds are yet to acknowledge my request, never mind close the account. I've now contacted the financial ombudsman & they will write to Lloyds.0

The financial ombudsman contacted them & Lloyds offered £50 as a gesture. I banked this a while ago into my new business account. Despite their promises I have just received yet another bank statement with charges. Perhaps they'll finally close the account as originally requested months ago as a Xmas present!0
