dishwasher tablets

  • I prefer finsh or Fairy but they are both expensive. I had a trial of the Fairy platinum and they were brilliant, but I can't afford to buy them. As for cheap tabs i think the best of these is the Co Op's own make. I buy them when they are BOGOF which they often are. Sorry to say, but the one Sainsburys basic that is rubbish is the dishwasher tabs.

DH and I have found very little difference between the expensive and the cheap tablets, so we always buy the cheap ones. We aim to always buy tablets for around 8p each, but if we find them for a lot cheaper then we stock up.

this is going to sound like a really stupid question to most of you, I'm sure, but how often do you need to add salt to the dishwasher? And where do you put the rinse aid?
There is no instruction manual with mine, so I'm not sure about all this stuff, and my mum has never had one to tell me :) Thanks

If you google the make and model, you may well find an instruction manual online somewhere, as I think it depends on your usage, location and the model of dishwasher.

In fact, I am sure I've seen an 'instruction manual' thread on mse somewhere too...

That's what I would do anyway.
  • Whatever is cheapest or on offer I tend to go for.
I just chuck them all in a tub and then its pot luck which one I use.
My dishwasher has been out of action since March when I had a new central heating boiler fitted and really miss it.
    I HATE WASHING UP
Hopefully this weekend it will be getting plumbed back in !

MM you will normally find the salt goes in the bottom there will be a large screw cap that you unwind and you just pour them in. The rinse agent in the 4 dishwashers i have had have all been next to where you put the tablet and is usually a quite small screw cap take it off and just pour it in.

I never use rinse agent all these new fancy tabs have it included so you dont need it. it saves you a couple of pounds a month :-) x

  • I usually use the tesco value or the asda smartprice ones and i've never had a problem with ither of them!! If i do see the more expensive ones on offer then i will stock up-i remember wilkinsons always seemed to have some )think it was their own brand?!?) on bogof so i would stock up on those, but they haven't had that for a while :(

As for the salt, mine goes in a bit in the bottom of the dishwahser that hyas a big screw cap-I have a light on mine that comes on when i need to add more salt-this is usually about every 6-8 weeks on mine (I actually can't remember the last time i had to put some more in, so must be coming up due for it!!)
