I will be getting a dishwasher at the end of August and have been looking around for cheap dishwasher tablets. I have come around Astonish tablets at £2.99 for 48 from savers? I have bought a packet today to try them out when we get the dishwasher.
What do you think of the Astonish tablets if you have tried them before?
What you you pay per tablet?
What tablet would you recommend?
thanks

Hi,
I've always found Fairy to be excellent and Finish are good also! They are very expensive in the supermarkets but i always wait until there on offer and stock up! If you have a Home Bargains near you they often have them on special offer for about half the price you pay in a supermarket!
I've found that the cheaper ones don't clean your glasses as well and don't remove all food from plates if its gone a bit hard!! Alot of its trial and error though!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I too use fairy - i find that the finnish ones don't dissolve probably in my dishwasher (don't know if thats the dishwasher or the water in my area!)
I too purchase when on offer - currently £3.80ish for 28 in tesco and also half price in somerfield about the same price?0 -
Asda do a basic range dishwasher tablet, not sure how much it is off hand but considerablly cheaper than finish. It's normally hidden away on the bottom corner of the shelf.
As has already been mentioned, it doesn't clean the glasses as well as finish but it does an adequate job. I tend to alternate them, use the cheap tablet one time, then a premium brand the next. Sometimes it can be several cheap in a row followed by a premium. ;-)
I also stock up when on special offer.

Whichever tablet you choose, be aware that half a tablet is more than enough to clean a full load, including greasy pans etc. That knowledge tends to steer you clear of anything you can't break in half e.g. liquitabs, tablets with balls in etc.(i.e. all the expensive ones).
Over time I've tried all the cheap brands (including value etc.) and the best 'breakable' tablets, IMO, are Sainsbury's... not their basics range but the one up - just their regular own brand ones. I can't tell you what they are called as I'm on holiday and anve a lousy memory for such things, but they are in a blue box and cost around £3 - £4.0 -
i bought asda own 5in1 tablets reduced to 45p a box (there were 45 tabs a box) and they work just as good as the dearer ones in my opinion, i gave my nan one to try, she always buys finish, as she said it was as good as them so thats my brand from now on:TIf your happy and you know it clap your hands :T0

I always used Finish as they were the only ones that got our dishes completely clean, but we used to put them on top of a cup in the top rack, rather than the drawer, as we found they didn't dissolve properly either.
There are often offers on the different ones (brand and shop own), so when you find one you like, just be sure to stock up when they are on offer.
You'll soon wonder how you managed without one! Mine has broken beyond repair now so I'm back to hand washing and it has taken some getting used to!0 -
I usually use Finish when I go to Costco (2 boxes 90 about £10) but they dont always dissolve. From what I can remember there is a thread on here somewhere and the ones from Lidls got good reviews.£2 Savers club £0/£150
1p a day £/0 -
I use the Lidl ones- broken in half

Thanks for that tip! My rinse aid just ran out!0 -
Tesco basics are excellent.
Finish Turbo dry rinse aid can some times be found in Poundland.
Read the instruction booklet and maintain it as described, people who moan about them not working well may not always maintain them as suggested.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
