Best place to sell Baby clothes?

Options
I've been very good and sorting through my baby girls clothes that she's outgrown (or that I know she'll never wear!) but having sold a few bits on ebay I decided that frankly I still loathe ebay and they charge too much...
I'd list it on Ebid but I don't think it gets enough traffic to get decent bids...

So...

Given than I hate giving over 20% of what an item fetches to Ebay and Paypal - any alternatives? How much would you expect to pay for something in great/as new/good condition at say a carboot? (It's been a LONG time since I went to one!) or how much is usually charged that the NCT sales?

HELP!

I've done the NCT nearly new sales and for the sake of a lack of hassle getting it sorted on the one day, leaving it there then picking up anything left over at the end it is my favourite way to get rid of the kids old clothes. The only thing is it takes so long to get your cheque after and I do think the odd bit has gone missing too but it is alot easier than ebay and I've never really fancied doing a car OH wont go on his own I did try sending him.

Toys also sell really well at the nearly new sales, hardly bring any of them back if at all. I think they take 10-15% cant remember but its not alot plus £3 if you are not a member.
  • What about advertising it in your local paper? I know ours does free adverts for under 25 words. I think the Netmums website has a for sale and wanted board as well, not sure how good this is as i've never used it! I know how you feel though, i've got bags of baby clothes that i could do with getting rid off i just can't be bothered to sit and list them all on ebay though! x

I can't remember where it was posted but there was a similiar thread about 6 months I can't find it now though- lot's of help there then :D

There are a few second hand clothes sites that are cheaper than e-bay and a specifically for baby clothes, also maybe on gumtree as a bundle? Or even somewhere like netmums?

I haven't used these or looked at listing charges etc, but here's an example.

There was a nice one that I found for the other thread but can't remember it now! Sorry!

I used ebay for the label stuff and then I used a car boot sale for the cheaper (grocery store) stuff and vests etc. Can't believe how fast everything sold. Some of the fancy labelled outfits sold for a small fortune on ebay! I don't mind paying the extra commission as it is easy to sell and hassle free.

Thanks everyone - I'm curious about the NCT sales - I know it's a while before there is another one round here but how much do things tend to fetch there? By the time I have shipped and paid fee's etc then I'll be lucky to have got 10p per item on ebay which does grate a little :)
I do agree on the high quality stuff on ebay though - but the "run of the mill" stuff just doesn't fetch much on there...

Kiddimart is a brand new classified ads web page for baby stuff. It is really easy to list and completely free.

I've heard that you have to give one third of your takings at NCT sales to the NCT itself, which is even more than Ebay.

I'd second the suggestion of placing a classified as in your local paper, as well as on Gumtree and free ads in shops.

You can place an ad on your local Netmums in the nearly new section, no percentage to give to anyone else, and 9 times out of 10 someone collects it from you! Netmums here has very high traffic and a lot of things are sold within hours of going on.

netmums here is absolutely rubbish for selling (better if you are buying ;) )

TBH, I ended up freecycling DD5's stuff as it was just not shifting at all.. and it was all Mothercare, Monsoon, Next etc..

Labelled stuff on ebay goes well if advertised well.

Bog standard stuff I find just doesn't go.. I had a huuuuuge box of stuff go for next to nothing.. over 100 items and it went for about £4 IIRC.. That was irritating!
