Got a letter from the FSA this morning, in response to me sending them copies of standard letters, received from LTSB. Sent about 20 odd A4 pages in total; roughly 12 letters.
Now, one would have thought I was helping/assisting the FSA by sending them copies of said letters.
To my astonishment, the FSA thought I was filing an official complaint about them. They even mentioned in the letter, that their Customer Complaints Team will be in touch, in due course to discuss my complaint.
All I did was send them the letters and subsequently told them that LTSB and Abbey are in breach of hardship waiver/not taking waiver seriously; stated the reasons.
During our telecon, I also informed the person I was speaking to; that other hardship criteria, such as large CC debt and heavy loans are not being considered by banks, in general.
Seems to me that not only are the banks, incapable of communicating, effectively, but the FSA also.

Did you send a covering letter?Got a letter from the FSA this morning, in response to me sending them copies of standard letters, received from LTSB. Sent about 20 odd A4 pages in total; roughly 12 letters.

...anyway, the lady I spoke to said my letters had been passed onto the LTSB supervisors'.0

NWSM, of course I sent a covering letter, fully explaining situation.
I even told her the FSA ought to take tough action, against LTSB and Abbey similar to action taken against EDF by their colleagues at OFGEM.0 -

I had to check cos it didn't say in post one.
I kinda understand your frustration with Abbey and I am starting to understand the same about lloydsTSB as well.0 -
The FSA don't handle any consumer complaints. So, if you send a complaint to them then depending on how you word it they will either think you are complaining about them or will forward your letter to the person you are complaining about.Seems to me that not only are the banks, incapable of communicating, effectively, but the FSA also.
With respect, that applies to you as well. What were doing sending them a complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
If it is a complaint about the FSA Waiver then you are right to a degree in that they do not deal with a complaint, however, where it is about the handling of the FSA Waiver they do collect evidence and may issue guidance or investigate firms which it believes are in breach of the FSA Waiver. For example, in March 2009 it wrote to all 28 firms who are part of the waiver and reaffirmed issues relating to Data Retention, and to the way in which they are dealing with informing customers. The FSA don't handle any consumer complaints. So, if you send a complaint to them then depending on how you word it they will either think you are complaining about them or will forward your letter to the person you are complaining about.

ONE single person does not move a mountain but evidence of widespread breaches of the FSA Waiver does produce results.0 -

I made it clear in my cover letter, I wss providing the FSA with some EVIDENCE. They have simply mis-interpreted my letter.0 -

Hurrah. I'm up to here with those in this old country, who think they're dealing with nice, trustworthy people, when dealing with banks.0
