  • well done - I'm sure you'll feel the benefit soon enough.

if you paid off the credit card do you think you'd be able to balance transfer the o/d to it?? Just a thought. I really want to get something gone too. Settling on passing milestones at the moment.

  • I suppose I could but maybe that defeats the object.....you know I think I might put the £500 onto the overdraft with the usual £100 which will leave me at a £600 overdraft, if I transfer onto the Reward Account with HFX that leaves me £25 per month for 6 months, or 3 if I then upgrade to Ultimate Reward. I won't scrape the rest together to try and pay off more - I'll leave it at that for now and spend the next couple of months throwing all manner of Quidco, Surveys and Mystery Shopping cash at it. I might also treat myselt to the £60 digitak radio I have been wanting. I think that's the best compromise so far. Then once the overdraft is gone is should be easy to pay off the credit card as I will have the £100 free to go onto that. Potentially that means in a maximum of 9 months time I will only have the one debt (monster one but only one!)

  • I know what you mean about defeating the object. I find overdrafts so hard to pay off though as I don't need to pay anything each month except the interest though. At least with a CC you pay something!! Like I say though, for me it's the one that worries me and annoys me so I'm desperate to get rid no matter how I do it!!

It's really easy to upgrade to the reward account. I just called them and they switched it over :)

  • I'll do that -I'm also looking into switching to A&L as they cap their charges (and you can get £50 cashback on Quidco in addition to the £100 they give you), so will see if that works out - my credit rating isn't great but I would be asking for a £600 temporary overdraft then all should be good. Will see what they say

  • Right - money audit done for November. Slightly disappointingly it looks like I only have £300 to put towards my overdraft. Seems the budget went slightly awry -I think I know where it has gone (haircuts, slight over budget on christmas presents and a treat for myself on Saturday) which is good, but still a bit frustrating.

Also a whole month has passed with not a single Green Metropolis sale! Not sure what's going on there seeing as I sold 12 books last month. But hey ho maybe my luck will change.

Sold a couple of bags on ebay. Annoyingly the person who bought my phone hasn't paid so I'll have to relist -That is so rude when people do that and really annoying for me as it was £70 which could have gone towards something else but still.

Also planned to have a no spend day today but as I'm working from home I thought I would go down and post the ebay parcels instead of waiting until Friday when the strike starts - so another *sigh* there.

All doom and gloom today peeps sorry.

    Hi SilkCut,

Well done on the no smoking!

Have just got caught up on your diary, and thought I had better mention that Martin put the £100 for the Alliance and Leicester account in the email this week because it is coming to an end really soon...cant remember the date though.....
    Debt free date - 4th December 2008 :j
  • Hi CaroleM

Yes no smoking has been 5 weeks tomorrow I think so that's good. :T

I have also discovered that lack of travelling, getting more sleep, running and being less greedy has resulted in a whopping 10lbs weight loss - which I'm chuffed about as I was starting to get a bit down about it (although I don't quite trust the scales -the battery seems to be on the way out).

I'm ebaying like mad at the moment - trying to get enough to buy a nice Christmas frock for all my parties (and hopefully i'll be thin when it comes to buying it too). The listing is becoming quite tedious though....Just listed anohter book on GM so hoping that will kickstart some more sales....

    Hope all good with you

  • Oh and yes have applied online (extra £50 through Quidco too). Didn't get an instant result they said they would write to me so not holiding out much hope tbh - that usually means a no! It's funny because I have checked my credit reports on both Experian and Equifax and they both seem ok. Fingers crossed ayway

  • Woooooooooooo A&L card and account details came through today.

I've had no confirmation that they'll match my ovedraft but I just phoned them and they said this will be done as part of the switching process. Quidco doesn't seem to have tracked the £50 but as the main aim was to escape the evil Halifax then that seems a small price to pay.

Sooo pleased, now going to play around with my budget to see how much better off I am without that £30 monthly charge!
