Mobile Phone Insurance
Anyone have any suggestions as to the best way of insuring a new PAYG mobile phone?
It was a pressie for my daughter, and I need to get it sorted before school restarts - and it gets lost or stolen!
Perhaps I'll add it to my home cover if I can't find a better alternative.

You could try your network provider. I'm with Orange and have their Orange Care insurance on my contract phone, but I see from their website that they also cover PAYG phones. I'd guess that most network providers do a similar insurance. Call 150 if you're on Orange for details. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

I think you will find that Martin has often said, self insure your mobile phone and don't pay a company for doing it. In other words put away an amount of money every month that you might have paid a company to insure and should the worst happen you have the money there to replace your phone and if nothing does happen you then have some money to upgrade anyway!0

With some of the LloydsTSB Bank accounts they offer free mobile phone insurance. All you do is give them the Mobile number and thats it.I say what I like, I like what I say!0

Its a nice sentiment but it doesnt work in reality. If I were to put the £4.99pm that I currently pay to Orange Care into a safe place every month and then lose my phone after 6 months of contract, I end up with £29.94 to put towards a 300 quid mobile phone. Same goes for PAYG although to a lesser degree due to the generally cheaper handsets. Don't see how that one is ever going to work, sorry ??? If it did, nobody would ever buy any insurance at all.

Barney,
Shouldn't they ask for that info BEFORE giving you cover, and not leave it to you?
Are they refunding your premium then (as the cover is void)?0 -
