Do Bank Branch Staff have a Clue ??

What about staff behind the scenes? I've had more problems there and found the cashier staff to be more helpful and knowledgeable.
Got a letter from my bank stating that laws had changed so I could no longer be c/o on my 2 year old DS bank account. They took away internet banking and I had to take him to the bank to prove he couldn't sign his name to withdraw any money!!
Having decided it was a nightmare way to deal with his money (and also having found a better interest rate), I went to the bank, armed with ID and said child to get his money moved to the better account elsewhere.
The cashier was great and advised that I could and should be on his account until he is 11 - they did the paperwork there and then. Still can't have internet access to it, but that's not been a main priority and I've still moved his money!
Secondly, when I bought my ex out of our house back in the early 90s, I went to the bank to explain everything and see if I could get an overdraft for 3 months as a back up (main job covered all outgoings, but took on a second job for a social life and some pin money). The woman I saw told me I was 'very silly' and should sell the house and was very unhelpful!! Big complaint letter and a bit of name-dropping of a very senior banking relative sorted that one.
My most recent problems are with calls to their call centres - sorry to say they seem to know little and action even less...that's when I can understand what they're saying!Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -

Bored housewives lost in fantasies and on power trips to make up for quiet nights in the bedroom or spotty kids thinking about what they pulled last night in Cinderella Rockerfellas....your and your financial matters are often last on their list of priorities.
Insist on speaking to the counter manager and hope they have a GCSE.
I agree with you. Banks pay peanuts, and (in general) the only ones willing to work for them are monkeys.
It's shocking how little the staff get paid when the banks are raking in so many billions...The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

yeah we don't get much money - hey i started at bank for stop-gap job after leaving uni - and i'm still here - but hey looking out there ( and I feel old where I am-I'm 24)
but still some banks / managers might employ you based on your looks - but my 3 hours interview and tests ect was not based on that ( I can ensure you)0 -

I have to say that many of the reps in banks i have delt with have been poorly trained. Namely Bank of Scotland.
Since a kid i had a BOS account but three years ago i wanted to open a regular savers account (good interest) when opening the account i was asked do you pay tax. My answer yes sometimes (as i was a student i only payed tax when i worked enough to do so) rep says what do you mean sometimes and i explain. They say thats not right ethier you do or you dont, this was after speaking to someone above them. This was the last straw after many other balls ups. So i closed all my accounts and opened an intelligent fianancecurrent account (who are owend by HBOS) and i now do all my banking on the internet myself and the service is great.
My point is i am not a trained financial worker but even i can grasp the concept of PAYE tax unlike the rep at the bank.
I now also have a nationwide account and there service is alot better as well.0 -
what is this "rep" term you keep referring to0

regarding the tax question - sounded like they were only asking you so they keyed the right thing on your account for you - as verbal now rather than R850

one would presume that a "rep" would be a REPresentative of the company, or in laymans terms, a member of staff. hope this helps. The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
