Hi all, heading up to a furniture store before it closes. I paid £1300 for a sofa and now they are claiming that I paid only £1200 yet on the receipt they have put it through as £1300. I am 100% sure the money was there!

not sure what you mean, are they saying they said you gave 1200 cash, surely tthat kind of mistake should be noticed at the time , ie check your change before you leave , they should check the payment before you leave0

Usually if paying such a large amount in cash the amount will be checked by a second employee, did this not happen? Was it a smaller retailer or one of the big chains?Gone ... or have I?0

Sorry lol I gave them £1300 and they (now) claim I only paid £1200. It was checked by me and the shop assistant and the manager then sealed and now they said theres only £1200.

You have a reciept that shows you paid the money . If you dont allready have your furniture they may well try not to give you it, then you would be looking at where you go from there, you would get your answer on here. If you have your furniture i woulld not even go to the shop, you have a reciept to prove that you paid for the goods so what can they do.0

They are threatening to withhold my furniture until I pay another £100...2009: Overdraft: £1500 Credit card: [STRIKE]£1000 [/STRIKE] cleared:j0

They can't. You have a receipt showing payment.
They can be arsey about if they want, but the law stands with you here.0 -
They said it wasn't their fault (grr) and the manager claims that he wasnt aware that the amount was £1300 and he counted £1200. The sofa was supposed to be delivered tomorrow and now they won't deliver it and said if it isn't paid in full the sofa will be cancelled... not impressed!2009: Overdraft: £1500 Credit card: [STRIKE]£1000 [/STRIKE] cleared:j0
