Thinking of a new ISP - Have a look

Hi
I saw this isp mentioned on another post, so I thouhgt I'd go and check it out, and read about it, so this one is no credit to me, but the original poster.

ADSL MAX Allowance - from £19.99
Our ADSL MAX services provide the maximum speed possible on your line, currently up to 8Mb. The speed is determined by the quality of your BT line and the distance from the exchange.
The MAX Allowance service is a capped bandwidth service however the allowances are far greater than those offered by almost every other InternetService Provider. We recognise that it's not reasonable to impose caps that apply the same limit to peak usage as off-peak usage so we have two separate caps.

These services are available from just £19.99, including VAT, which includes 30GB of peak bandwidth per month and 300GB of off-peak bandwidth. This service includes a static IP address as standand.

**Peak hours are defined as Monday to Friday 08:00 to 22:00

***Off-peak is defined as Monday to Thursday 22:00 to 08:00 and Friday 22:00 through to Monday 08:00.

So after 10 o clock, you can download what you like up to 8 the next day, and all weekend.

Migration free, 1mth contract, so if you don't like you can get out.

This is their website, they area a partner of entanet.

The actual supplier is entanet and you can check them out on adsl
I've compared them to f2s, (which I've just left) and Zen

Just another one to think about, but I've actually migrated as I personally think its a good deal.

I'm not trying to take it away from another ISP, but Zen have been around for quite a while now, and all the time they have been in the public eye, they have won awards for their service in every area.

This says a lot about the service they are offering.

As with every service you decide to take............If you pay a cheap (or less) price.............then don't expect the same level of service as you would get from a premium service (like Zen)

  • Hi
Yes, I totally agree of course Zen is the best, but I think they should be at the price you pay for them, but I personally wouldn't pay £34.99, which is the one I would have picked.
So if I'm not prepared to go to Zen then I have to look around for what I consider the next best for which I am prepared to pay.
And this can be quite daunting because they all seem to be much of a muchness, excluding Talktalk, Tiscali etc, which I would never go with.
Now I considered Nidram, Pipex, NDO, Plusnet all the major players, who seem to give value for money/customer service etc.
But then I came across this one, and I thought it looked pretty good and a lot better than some, and they were offering what I wanted at a price I wanted, but what surprised me even more, was when I went to their forum, their reps were answering and taking queries, and also they had people from their head office and even their managering director answering questions as well, now I don't know if they do this on a regular basis, as I only read a few threads.
Now coming from f2s, I had never seen this before, and I was quite impressed and I think that finally convinced me, plus I think its only a small company, so perhaps they can deliver better standards, who knows.
And of course I'm only into a monthly contract, so if I feel that they are not delivering, then I will be free to move on.
So that was my decision to try this isp, and as they say only time will tell.....

thanks, but i rather stick with a larger (more reputable) ISP like BT. we all know what happened to GIO and E7even!

    Hi
I was with a "reputable" isp, and so are the many who complain about them, just because someone has a big name and has big advertisement campaigns, doesn't mean that they deliver, and that's obvious by just reading the threads on here.

And Entanet are not a fly by night company, they've been around for quite some time, selling broadband to business and their partners. Just because you haven't heard of them, doesn't really mean anything, as long as they do, what they say they will do, thats the point, I think.

But hey, each to their own, its just an alternative, and like I say 1mth contract, so no problem.

PS I've just compared, Entanet,BT and Zen, have a look

yeh, 1 month contract is alright.. not alot of risks involved in there. personal choice at the end of the day, i rather stick with the large ones... i know they often cost more, but i see it as being safer. many people have big problems with ISPs going down such as GIO and E7even... they were relativley small companies. i know there are many small companies which are doing well, just more risk involved compared to large companies and it isnt a issue of the ISP going bust and simply transfering your ISP... getting your MAC Code isnt easy either considering there's nobody on the other side or their lines are clogged up with customers complaining. can take months getting it!

as for your comparison, e7even had great speed, reliability and customer service 4-5 months ago... highest average on ADSLguide... no-one can predict the future. can only guess and make your own decesion.. it may have been great one day, but may be the worst another
  • Hi
Again your assuming that they don't give out MAC, look at 2 big players Tiscali & Wanadoo, Tiscali only started giving out MAC late last year, (and I believe that was only to get rid of their big downloaders) and I don't believe its easy to get one from Wanadoo either, a lot of people have had problems with them. Enternet support migrating in/out.
And where does the assumption come from about their customer support....
If you look on the Eternet forum, you don't see people complaining about their support, if fact, just the opposite their customer reps are on there all the time, answering queries, and even their Chief Operations Manager, at the moment their all complaining about speed, since the Max have gone through, which is what you'd find on any isp forum right now.
If you were to go to anyone on the street, and ask who would they get your broadband from and name BT/Zen/Tiscali/Wanadoo, I don't think you would hear many saying Zen, but we all know that they are the best, the power of advertising.

When I change over I'll be getting 330gbs download limit per month, up to 8mb max speed, all for £19.99, now that sounds good to me, but like I say only time will tell.

So I think we will have to agree to disagree, but nice talking to you. :)

And I don't want to have to leave my PC on all night to be able to get my 330Gig. Plusnets peak period is only 16.00 to midnight, not all day and evening. And i'm not with Plusnet. I get up tp 8Megs, 30Gig guide (but not stricktly adhered to), and for £21.99. Good old BT, only one 2Hr period of downtime in over 3 Years.

    Hi
I don't pay by penpal, if fact I didn't see this option, but now I look yes the Paypal option is there, the options presented to me were dd/credit/debit card and I choose one of those, so I don't believe I paid by Penpal.
    From their website
