Accruing BANK hols on Mat Leave...

Hi can anyone tell me where I can find something *official* saying that you accrue bank hols during maternity leave - so that I can show my employer, please?

Big thanks in advance

I don't think you can accrue bank holidays. Either you're there and you take them or you're not and you don't. I know in my large organisation, part time staff who don't work Mondays do get a bit disadvantaged on the bank hols issue since they aren't pro-ratad like the rest of the leave.

Sorry, I think you're on a hiding to nothing.

Sorry belfast you're wrong :) when on matternity leave you can accrue BHs - part time workers are a different matter altogether.
If in your contract it states you are entitled to x holidays and x bank holidays then you would accrue them when on maternity leave :)

Don't know you need to speak to ACAS and have your contract to hand... it's all about the contract wording in that case.

the guidance changed 1st april 2009 - it all depends on how much annual leave you get and what it consists of.

For full timers - if u get 20 days PLUS 8 bank holidays then yes you do accure banl holidays. If you get 24 days PLUS 8 banks holidays then by law they only have to let you accure 4 bank holidays. If you get 28 days annual leave PLUS 8 bank holidays then they don't have to give you the 8 bank holidays as you are already getting over the minimum legal annual leave.

You would just need to pro-rata it for part-time

The minimum you can accure is 28 days annual leave (this is by law) so it depends what your holiday entitlement is made up of.

I've just been through all this with my own employer

Where does the time go?
