If the phone was registered the Network will have a note of the IMEI number
  • Hi,

    Perhaps on the receipt?

Failing that, ring the network and they should be able to tell you want IMEI number your sim was being used with.

    Best Regards

    Barry
  • cheers phone was not registered, thought it was but it was his last phones details, phoned vodafone who say that imei no might be on there original sales receipt so i will give that a go.
  • It should also be on the contract paperwork if you have it.

    :)
I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!
  • hello found the receipt and no record of imei also went to comet and they could not do anything to get imei ,the phone was pay as you go so no record of number in paperwork , looks like i'm onto a loser here,
dont know why insurance need number but it says so on paperwork so my fault . >:(

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) number is a 15 digit number, a unique serial number.

I suppose they need it to prove you had the equipment in the first place. I've never lost a mobile (touch wood), but having not registered the phone you have no way of proving that you are the owner.

Indeed, I think that networks should clamp down on this. SIMs should have to be registered to help prevent this crime.

Make sure you make a note of the IMEI of all your phones, just as you would have the V5 Registration Document for your car.

Press *#06# to get the IMEI.

I can only suggest you put it down to experience.

It is possible to get your imei number from your phone, if you know what code to put in.
EG for nokia ( not sure what model) you key in:

    *#06#

and then the imie is displayed.

You may find this website helps you find your imei code:

    http://www.trycktill.com/eng/unlock_swe.asp

Select your phone brand and model, plus network, and it should tell you how to get your imei. Good luck!
  • i think your right dd this one will have to go down to experience as i dont have the phone , its not registered and i dont know the imei, just thought id ask incase there was a way it could be found through the mobile number.cheers anyway
