in Credit cards
I've just been accepted for this over the net but it didn't tell me what my credit limit was. I know it'll say in the letter but I'm trying to juggle things at the moment and I wondered if there were any thoughts on how generous they normally are? Small limits, big ones? I got accepted for an Abbey card last month which had a limit of 4,000 if that's any kind of guide...

There's no real way anyone can guess your credit limit as it depends on so many factors. Best thing would be for you to give them a ring and ask them

Thanks, I did that but they said they won't know for 48 hours, which seems odd.0

Does the PO card give you an instant decision online0

Your Abbey card last month may have a significant bearing on your limit with this new card whatever that may be.
When needing multiple cards it's more advantageous to apply for them simultaneously where possible.
I've had a PO card for a couple of years now and I'd class the limit as average for me, but it's still in excess of £10K.0 -
They gave me a low limit of £4K and I got the standard card rather than the platinum one. I got £10K limits on other cards shortly before and shortly afterwards.0

As long as it's 1.5k or above I'm fine, as you can see from my signature.
That's interesting exel - why would that have a bearing? I know that your total number of searches in the past 6 months or so is relevant (abbey would be the only one on my file) as is the number of ccs you have (I cancelled two before getting the abbey one). Are you saying they'd look at what abbey offered specifically, or just the total amount of credit available to me? They can't see what abbey gave me can they?0 -
Yes, they'll look at the total amount of credit you have and use this to assist them in making a decision on your limit.February wins: Theatre tickets0

Yes, I've heard that a lot euronorris but I wonder how much bearing that has really... I have about £45k available to me and I'm only using £5.5k of it. I imagine they're more interested in your payments history so they can assess your risk.0

If you're looking for more 0% deals then best bet is to speak to existing unused cards for any offer and cancelling the cards if they don't. It's always worth a try as it's the quickest way without any new searches on your credit report. Best recent repeat I've had was 9 months 0% with 0% fee from Natwest
