How can I get out of my 2yr o2 contract?

I renewed my o2 contract in March this year and got a free Nokia N96 phone on a monthly plan over a 2 year contract. I then moved (only a mile down the road) in May, and the coverage in my new area is terrible. It can take me hours to send one text message, calls rarely connect, and it the IP browsing, well just forget it!
I have rang o2 several times and explained this, only to be met with, "You're in a 2year contract and theres nothing you can do". They are also claiming that coverage is good, but I know it is poor, so there must be something I can do.
At the end of the day, I am paying for service that is not being provided, so I must be able to do something.

Help me please?!!

I managed to get out of a t-mobile contract as there was very limited service at my home but according to their website i should have had good service.

If you cannot make/receive calls/texts etc then they are not providing the service they should be.

This was a couple of years ago and i think i got advice from Consumer Direct.
  • thanks, i'll try that now!!

Good luck, let us know how you get on
  • I've got the ball rolling. I wrote them an email stating that I was unhappy with the service (phoning just never ever works as well) and received a £15 credit on account for the inconvenience. Well, its a start.
They are also looking into the reason why the coverage is so poor in my area, despite their insistence it is good. We'll see what happens.
