    In a word, yes.

Legal stuff comes into play now. You know that you didn't order the goods, so you have no right to keep them. It's your responsibility now if there is a return address / telephone number to contact the company that sent the items and inform them that they have mis-delivered them.

They should then arrange to have the items collected, at *your* convenience, as long as it reasonable.

You are not responsible for any return costs.

After a period of time (not sure how long) if they have not collected the goods, they become your property.
  • If th point you're asking for confirmation on is if the deliverer can just walk into your house then I know I wouldn't like it...

I think the delivery person was only trying to be helpful but it might be an idea to keep that door locked - it might not be a delivery person next time but a thief!

Well sorry but, if you didn't want someone to open your door, why didn't you lock it? It's quite common practice for people to leave their porches etc open this way for deliveries. The delivery man was not to know you didn't like this.

Hang on... the company are collecting the parcel because you didn't like him putting the parcel in a more convienient place for you, also saving you the time of going to collect the parcel themselves?! How does that work?
