New LR sold figures released yesterday in my area - some great drops!

Clearly, that's why you made the decision you did to buy at the top of the market, despite the risks of negative equity, whilst others decided not to take that risk.
Neither position is 'right', except for that individual.
Possibly you were unwise; then again, if renting is such torture for you, then possibly you were correct.
For the record [again] I didn't buy at the top. You seem to assume that anyone who predicts we may be at/near the bottom, then they must be at risk of NE?0 -
Thats fine if you don't mind being in rented. Personally, I can't stand it.
Renting is "cheaper".... if I owned this place, in the last 2 years I'd have:
- ripped out the water tank
- fitted a new "instant water heater" point
- moved the shower/installed a bath
- created a bedroom from the kitchen
- relocated the kitchen into the living room
- fitted some internal doors
- got a new external door
- fitted a new heating system
- bought rugs
- changed the light fittings
- changed the curtain poles
.... the list goes on.
When you own you have to fiddle - and fiddling costs dosh.0 -
The LR figures are lagging indicators....when you were busy telling everyone not to buy and that they were foolish doing so - there were people buying houses at great prices! Now you are celebrating the fact that people were buying houses at great prices when you were telling eveyone on here not to buy....you couldn't make it up...
Er..I am celebrating that house prices are lower than they were, yes.
That doesn't mean they won't be lower yet, as you appear to imply, if your post is to make any sense.
As I do think they will fall further, your post doesn't make any sense.
I don't think the prices I quoted in the OP are 'great prices' - no idea where you got that from.
If I thought that, I'd be buying myself, desperately, and advising everyone else to do the same.
On the contrary, I think they're still very over-priced, just less so than in Sept 2007.
Do you understand now? (Speaks slooowly.)0 -
Of course house prices are regional. You can`t expect to see the same percentage of change when comparing Cornwall to London or Leeds to Reading. Lot`s of different factors are at play. One place we might look at for retirement is experiencing some big changes in price. Partly due to over supply and also to the fact that it`s main employer is not having a good time ( nor is my business as it happens).0

and all that gives you a good feeling.0 -
So these were people buying houses at great prices when you were posting on MSE telling everyone not to buy? And that makes you happy? These people who bought houses at great prices obviously listened to the advice of Warren Buffett and, lets be fair, DD and not the HPCers....
What an interesting edit.
Who is this person who compares DD to Warren Buffet?
Not a regular poster.
Who could it be guys?
I mean, I have absolutely NO idea.........0 -
Slightly OT but....
Has anyone else noticed the ongoing thanks battle between 'rewired' and 'rewired3'?
Neither of them have ever posted.
They are on opposite sides of the fence
Dan I think you have a secret admirer as almost all your posts have won a round of applause from rewired3.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

I've been followed by 'rewired; for some time now, I was hoping it was a hot chick, unfortunately though its probably a puff.:D0 -
rewired is clearly a person of taste, and discretion, as I've said before.
Don't know this rewired3 person- not even noticed their existence.
They're not very good at thinking up imaginative usernames, are they?0
