    Back to the days of "no blacks, Irish or dogs". I suspect that letting agents are fine tuning there "racism" cos you wouldn't be worried about letting property to a Dane or German but if they were from the former eastern bloc I think there treatment would be different.

    What about to someone who might sod off back to Clapham? I don't really see the difference TBH.

    If you loose your job and you are Polish it is very easy to return back to Poland to your family leaving your bills behind- I know sorting these problems out is part of my job. You are quite right to say that there is no difference in someone returning to Clapham but it is easier for me to trace them for the money that they owe- can't do jack !!!!!! about mainland Europe- you are going to face the same problems in Clapham as you are elsewhere so you may as well stick it out in the place you are.

    The difference is that someone sodding off back to Clapham would still care about having a CCJ to their name, whereas it probably would not have any effect to their life back in Poland.

    That said I have two properties rented to eastern Europeans and I get on with them fine, one has been there for 3 years and the other over 2 years. My experience with both them and previous Poles has been very positive, the Poles even decorated the flat and were suprised when I re-imbursed them for the paint/rollers/brushes (and they did ask me first if it was ok to decorate).

    This is nothing to do with racism.
    Its about dealing with foreign nationals who are very difficult to get meaningful references from. Matters not a jot what their race is.
    I belive Polish is a nationality not a race.
