Orange 18mth contract - will they let me downgrade?

I am around 13 months into an 18 month contract with Orange on a Dolphin tariff (can't remember which one) for which I pay £30 a month. I have always paid on time every month but I just don't use this phone at all!
What are Orange like for allowing you to downgrade the tariff? I can afford to keep paying it until the end of the contract but as I'm not using the phone at all I just wondered if there was any likelihood of them agreeing to reduce the tariff?
I thought I would ask others experience before I phone them to ask

Just cancel instead, theyve broke thier own tems and conditions, everyone is doing it, theres even a huge thread on here about it.0

Yes you can downgrade, just ring them and they will advise the cheapest tariff.0
