Mobile Contract Deal with cheap/free international texts

Hello

At the moment I am on an old Genie tariff (out of contract) and I pay 20GBP per month plus the ITS at 2.99GBP (so I get 12p texts, this is worth it to me - I send more than 2.99 in the savings). I get 600 free (UK) texts and a month and 50 off peak O2/BT minutes a day. This is no longer a good deal for me. I want a deal with international texts included in my allowance or free international texts.

Does anybody know a deal/tariff which offers this on any network?

O2 rang me a while back to see if they could "do anything for" me, but turns out they couldn't offer me a better deal.

As I pay a very cheap monthly rate, I might as well stick with it for now? Or perhaps you can get a pay as you go package with international texts just as cheap? I dont really use the minutes anymore.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

Yep the standard 20p per international text is crazy.. I've never seen a bundled deal which includes international texts.

I've got around it by using Skype via my PC. Not as handy, I know. But easier to type. The charge varies by country, but is often 3p to 5p for Asia. More for Europe.

You have to top up via credit card. I've set my "from" number. So when I send a text it looks as if it's come from my mobile where I receive any replied.

Read here. Stef.Steve mentions something about international deals... But it's PAYG with regular Top ups needed.
  • Well I'm thinking a PAYG deal with three is probably the best idea.

They offer free skype calls and messages. I'm not sure if they let you send texts too but it would be worth checking out.
