We stayed at the Devere Hotel in Abingdon (as a family ) 2 weeks ago and it was lovely. It is an old Manor house set in lovely grounds and has a lovely indoor pool with sauna, jacuzzi and suana room. It is very quiet there and nice for a getaway break. It is a training centre during the week, so everyone is in meetings, so we had the pool etc to ourselves. It has free tea and coffee making cafe type machines around the hotel, with walkers biscuits and big leather chairs in oak lined rooms and sofas to curl up in by the window. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel and breakfast was good at £7.50 per adult and evening meal £15 for 2 courses. A the bottom of the lane leading to the hotel is a pub called the Pack Horse that also does food, there is a bus that goes from there to Oxford (did not use as used Park and Ride from redbridge £2 return fare per adult. Abingdon itself is about a 10 minute drive and is a pretty town on the river.

what sort of things do you like, shopping, bird watching, scenery, eating?
  • Lastminute is good for these sorts of things, although do check the T&Cs carefully - me and my room got cheap rooms in a four star hotel in Stratford upon Avon once and got massively hit on the breakfasts, not realising it was room only.

If you want to go to York and can drive there's a lovely hotel a bit further out from the town called Middlethorpe Hall which has a pool and a spa - http://www.middlethorpe.com/index.php.html

Check out Barcelo Hotels as well.

    Promo code SUMMERW.

    Book 2 nights, B&B for £60.

Just got these rates for 2 nights in Oxford and another 2 nights in Cheltenham.

Went thru topcashback for 6% cashback but I expect it will fail as I used a promo code. But if it works, then a few quid comming back my way!
