LloydsTSB card

Hello

I went into my Lloyds branch today (Iam a customer of eithers) to ask about their platinum card and would it be BT fee free if I applied in branch(after seeing that info on this site).

I was told this was not true and that the BT fee stood. Has anyone applied for this card in a branch and got it fee free?

    Hi
be away from lloyds, ive been with them for 4 years now, having current account, saving account and classic credit card with credit limit 2700 and in the last 6 months i had a mortagage from them via C&G.
my credit history is very good and i always pay my credit card in full every month. After i found this site i have got HSBC credit card with 0% interest for 9 month with credit limit 4000 and in the last 2 week i have got an egg money with credit limit 5000, so i don't need lloyds credit card.
I called lloyds to cancel my credit card with them and i was prepared for long disscusion because i thought they will try to keep me with them but when i called the guy told me that my credit card account already closed, and when i asked him why he couldn't found any answer and hept me on hold for few mints then he said it was closed AUTOMATICALLY on the expiry date of the card which was 2 days ago. I actually I was happy because this is what I wanted but again wondering how it come that they close my account without even telling me, what if I have not got another card?
in summary I think lloyds is one of the worse banks :T

I've no real issue with them as a bank, all I have with them as a current accout which gives an ok interest rate (not that there's much in there at the end of the month. And I like the internet banking.

I just found it odd that the person in branch said that I would still get BT fees when this site said I would not, she even refered to the advice offered on this site as nonsense

    Yes - BT fee free.

Walked into my Lloyds branch about 3 weeks ago, asked if I could have a Platinum Card. In my favour I have been with Lloyds for 50+ years, have an excellent track record, never been overdrawn - kind of squeaky clean. Last year, I had a Platinum card for £15K, despite that I only earn £3.5K from a part time job and get around £9K from rental income. So tongue in cheek asked if I could have the same again please. Went and checked on the computer screen to look at how I use my account, came back, filled out the form in 5 minutes. Within a week roughly, had the money in my account via Egg and Cahoot Savings. No fee if you do it in branch. The assistant remembered them receiving an email fairly recently reminding them they are one of the few insituttions doing so. It has to be done in the first 6 weeks.
Don't be put off, get them to go and check the Ts & Cs themselves while you wait in the branch.

There seem to be a large number of threads on this subject, including 2 of mine. Lloyds insist that a BT fee has been recently introduced in the last few weeks, even for branch applications.

It would be useful to amalgamate the threads on this site and obtain someone very senior at Lloyds to confirm the specific and current terms on this card in writing. I will visit the branch on Saturday and attempt to do this.

I've had the same problem, I applied for the credit card in the branch and they confirmed that there was no fee for a balance transfer. Today I tried to transfer a balance and was told there was a 2% fee, I queried this and they said go into to branch and get them to sort it - so going in tomorrow.

Will let you know how I get on.
    Waddle you do eh?

As stated earlier, applied in branch and did a BT for £14,900 on 31st March, statement arrived today - No fee.

I went into my branch today, and they said that my application was made the day they changed the T&C to charge 2%, but as they had already said that there would be no BT fee, they phoned head office and made sure that I wasnt charged

Apparently the date of change was the 11th April. All applications after that will now be charged 2% handling fee. The most worrying thing though is that at the bottom of the t&c leaflet, it states that interest will be charged on BTfees!! I assume this is after the Transferred Balance is cleared. Martin can you confirm this because, doesn't this make the Lloyds card unacceptable? Not much point having a 0% balance card and then spend on it (i.e the BT fee).
