Has anyone else noticed that Heinz has changed the plastic in their sauce bottles to a new more brittle type plastic.

I bought two bottles as they were on offer and both bottles went funny and once 2/3 of sauce used it was impossible to squeeze out the remainder.

I rang Heinz care line(number on back of bottle) and they are aware of issues and new bottles will be out soon. Vouchers are being sent to me.

I rang them up on:- 0800 528 5757 about a month ago same problem, the guy was very nice, said they were looking at repackaging soon and knew it was a problem. A few days later I got a £3 moc in the post.

Nice to know I'm not alone.

  • Maybe it's due to cheapskates like me buying Sainsbugs basics ketchup, decanting it into the empty Heinz bottle and seeing if my kids noticed a difference? They didn't, which is great news when you consider the massive difference in cost. We now just decant it all the time as it pours better than from the glass bottle. Their theory may be make it last only as long as the ketchup it contains.

    I love your post!!!

I buy Asda's own tommy sauce now, but only because we used to run out of Heinz sauce, so I thought I'd chance Asda's, and they didn't notice the difference!! It saves me a fortune!!

I did a blind taste test with Tesco's, Heinz and Daddy's tomato ketchup and OH and DD picked out Tesco's as the best and were sure it was Heinz!

I noticed this. The bottle seems to hold air and doesn't squeeze out the ketchup very well. I never thought to complain must do this tomorrow. I thought it was to do with the size of the bottle I bought this time (larger than normal but it was on offer).

I've been decanting suermarket into Heinz for years but then we went away and the bottle got left behind. I bought one of the new bottles and we had the squeezing problem. My DH was so fed up with it he bought a supermarket brand saying we could put the Heinz in there when it was used. He then commented that the supermarket brand tasted 'just the same as Heinz' :rotfl: - of course it did, it's what he has been secretly eaing for years.

  • We have wasted sooooo much money on brand names over the years. Never again. And don't believe the hype when brand name snobs say you must be eating rubbish - the Sainsburys basics ketchup we now use contains approx 33% of the salt that the heinz contains. 40p v £2! No-brainer.

Ah and we thought we'd just had a dodgy batch!! Bought 4 bottles of the stuff (700g size) for my storecupboard while they were on offer and it's driving us nuts. have emailed my complaint in now. sounds like it's been a bit of a disaster for them, expect it was a cost issue that forced the change as the old style bottles were perfect ( maybe they were trying to create a bottle that couldn't be refiled with cheaper products - ha ha !)
