If you read my thread I am not compaining about the fact that I have to have the card I realise this was quite clear. I am complaining about the lack of flexability and the lack of clear information on what happens if I don't have the card with me.
Not working in the area you do this was the last thing on my mind when the bank called me to tell me my card was skimmed!
I was not turning up to collect tickets booked by someone else. My card was canceled and reissued with a new number through no fault of my own! I was advised by the bank to cut the old card up a request I followed!
"You can also ask the booking office staff to call them to release the ticket for ANY CARD USE."
This is exactly what raileasy refused to do and what I am warning about. They told me my only option was to book new tickets at a cost of over £130.
Hopefully people who aren't lucky enough to work with TOC will avoid the same pitfall I did.
My apologies for not reading your rant correctly.
that is their perogative though. they also state in their T&Cs that you can claim a refund from the ticekts that you didnt use but have to pay a 10 pound admin charge. What you sign up for is exactly what you do if you went with ryanair or easyjet and you had the same thing happen to you.
The railways are no different to air travel apart from we go on the ground. As with all T&Cs when you accpet them you are into a contract with that agent and if they dont want to asdsist you then they really dont have to.
Its a hard life but waht can you do? ALWAYS go via a tocs site(though some actually use trainline - but they are much better at dealing with these things)one of the famous 50 -
Cheers  geordieracer I have learnt my lesson the expensive way!!
I completely understand that I am bound by the T & C I just hope others have the chance to avoid the pitfall!
My real rant is about companies not just following common sense! It doesnt seem that hard in my mind to look at my account see I booked legitimate tickets at price A ended up having to buy replacements at higher price B then refund the price B tickets minus the £10 admin charge.
Alternatively allow me to pickup the tickets with ID all be it with some sort of admin charge for the problem!

Believe me common sense doesnt sit well with the railways!!:rotfl:one of the famous 50 -
It is not that Raileasy have chosen not to abide by this rule to fax some form of paperwork to the station so the clerk can issue the ticket, but they have been advised by ATOC (Association of Train Operating Companies) not to do this as the majority of stations do not accept these faxes due to the possibility it could be Fraudulent.0

I use the individual rail operators when booking tickets, both The Train Line and Rail Easy do that anyway and charge extra for the service! However, out of interest, I followed a link to Rail Easy's screed on Virgin Trains and there it told me that there is a Virgin service direct between Penzance and Dundee, the longest in UK, except having searched their own site and that of Virgin, it doesn't exist! I emailed to ask if I was doing it wrong but have had no reply in weeks despite a reminder.0

That might be the case but a direct quote from an e-mail they sent me shows where I got that idea :-
"You have to have a relevant form which you fill out and fax over but our company has not agreed to this rule so that is why we dont have the capability."0 -
rail easy are really annoying to deal with.
once their site crashed and ordered me the same ticket 3 times within 2 minutes.
for weeks the refused to refund me the 2 spare tickets.
after a good while on the phone (premium rate) to the most patronising person ever telling me i must have ordered 3 exactly the same tickets within 2 mins.
a few well worded letters and a few phonecalls later (raileasy 08701599500 option 2, non premium rate)
they agreed to refund me the full sums of 2 of the tickets.
also i never receive confirmation emails with the codes on from them, and they have no login feature that allows me to check my previous bookings.
thetrainline does do these things reliably and are almost always the same price.
i have stopped using raileasy now.0 -

Why not use one of the many train operating companies and save even more money?0 -
I've never had a problem with Raileasy and in fact, I once mistakenly booked train tickets for the wrong day and got a refund within a couple of weeks (they didnt charge me the £10 "admin fee" either).
I think a lot of people use these ticket agents because they offer Quidco cashback - well at least that;s the reason I do. However I've just discovered that South West Trains are on Quidco - they offer higher cashback than Raileasy, no booking (Raileasy charges £1) and you can book train services all over the UK, not just in the South West! I think they use the same booking platform as The Trainline!0
