Have You Ever Written A Telling Off Letter To An Employer?

When you have been utterly disappointed and angry on receiving a rejection from an employer, have you ever felt like writing them a telling off letter saying how badly you wanted the job and how upset you are that they turned you down?
Sometimes, endless rejections can get you so demoralised and angry that you can feel like venting your frustration to employers!
No.
And if i did, after reading the first word, i would throw it in the bin.
It would get you absolutely nowhere.
Also, some employers (i know i would consider it) may write back and say how badly you interviewed and why you weren't taken on.
How bad would you feel if an employer told you that you were stupid or under qualified or had the wrong image etc.
Sometimes the truth is best left unsaid.0 -
I know how you feel! I've had two interviews in recent weeks and neither bothered to let me know the outcome-we are talking well paid roles in professional (allegedly) organisations as well, I am absolutely shocked, this has never happened to me before.
This is what most companies do now.
I know i do not bother to write to every candidate...its just not feasible.
If you are 'more than capable' then you may well have got the job.
The most frustrating thing of all is that I am more than capable of doing the job and didn't really want it anyway-it's also been readvertised to add insult to injury! I am very sorely tempted to reply stating that I have dodged a bullet and would not want to work for a company who can't be bothered to notify a handful of people who've taken time to go for interviw. But I won't.
Maybe your opinion of yourself is alot higher than what is factual.0 -

Glad you empathize with me. Yes, unemployment IS disheartening, especially when it drags on and on, no matter what you do to try and get a job. You just feel as if you are running up against a brick wall.
Even starting your own business is difficult, as you need a real good idea, plus a saleable product, in order for it to take off.fly_dragon_fly wrote: »o god have i wanted to send letter and emails to employers never will but i defo know how you feel its so dishearting day after day after day so depressing

I really know what you mean about these companies not even given you the courtesy of a telephone call to let you know the outcome. It makes me feel like I must have been so rubbish that I'm not even worth a phone call to let me know.
These damn agencys are just as bad too, they only want to know you before you have an interview then after they wont tell you anything. Makes me so angry!!!!! I just wanted some feedback from my interview so I know what went wrong !!!!!!! I have to keep wasting my phone bill on calling these idiots.:rotfl:0 -

Something to bear in mind is if you do send an annoyed letter 5 people might read it and then put it on file. Those people could leave for other better companies and recognise your name when you apply to them. Then you could be cutting yourself off from 6 companies.
Very true. Something similar happened to my BIL - he didn't write a complaint letter but he did call up to speak to the HR manager about the unfairness of it all and actually CRIED over the phone to her (I cringe just thinking about it). Two years later, she joined his new firm. Nothing has been said but she definitely remembers.
At my firm we haven't received any complaint letters but the HR department have received a couple of "unsavoury" packages so they have obviously upset some people!0 -
The thing is, a lot of these places are lost in their own mad world, so probably wouldn't see what the problem is.
A few years ago now, I applied for a number of positions with a large public sector organisation, which involved completing tedious "war and peace" sized application forms, covering off all the competencies etc. It gradually dawned on me, that whilst this organisation advertised its jobs externally, it was more than likely that they would look internally, or within the public sector for applicants.
It was only when I received verbal feedback from this woman, who said I had not mentioned equal opportunities in my application for one position, when infact I had (they obviously had not bothered reading the forms) I felt compelled to write in and feedback my thoughts to them in a rational manner - they invited feedback on their adverts btw. At this stage, I knew that I would not be bothering making further applications, so I wasnt worried about ruffling their feathers.
My issue was not so much not getting the job, more that I was having my time wasted on an already done deal. I got a letter back in a tatty envelope that appeared to have been sealed then re-opened, then sealed again, which failed to answer any of the issues that had been raised - which about summed the place up
