Hi guys. I ordered a phone line with BT on the 31st July for where I am moving to. It appears that there will be no connection charge but I am just wondering is it normally the case it takes over 2 weeks to arrange - my connection date is 17th August it looks like.
Wanted to get home broadband ready as soon as I could coz I know that can take upto 2 weeks to arrange too!

Is this a new line or just a reconnection? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Cheers utility broker.
Macman: it appears to be a reconnection - they are not saying I need to pay any charges0 -
Then from that same link:
'If we find you already have a working line and just need to be connected, it will only take around 2 working days'.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I am confused then, I thought there would be the £100+ charge for installing a new line? They have said there is not going to be a charge for this when I rang them - I did not request for the 18 month offer either0

They're not installing a new line, it's just an exchange reconnection. Your commitment will just be 12 months line rental. No free lunch, and no free laptop

It depends on what they have to do.0

I'd be pretty careful about this. I applied online and signed up to £11.25 for 12 months, it didn't say anything about a connection charge.
2 weeks later (seems to be normal) and after a couple of stuff ups they finally installed the line - when we got our first bill through, it was for something like £15/month for 18 months. I've called them up a bunch of times about it. The first guy said I could have the reduced rent and term, if I paid £125 for the install. The second said that the amount would be corrected on the second bill, it wasn't. The third woman said she'd call me back - still waiting over 2 weeks later. Bunch of scammers, basically.0 -
Thanks for the heads up - I am going to ring them in a mo and double check what is going on!0
